As of today, PIH runs programs in 11 countries (Haiti, Kazakhstan, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mexico, Navajo Nation, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, United States), where it support health care delivery to millions of patients, through public facilities and community engagement.

Job Summary

PIH Rwanda is seeking a creative Content Writer to produce compelling content for use in print and electronic formats, particularly the website and blog, newsletters, social media platforms, and contribute to video and multimedia storytelling. As part of the Communications team, the Content Writer will participate in editorial planning and edit content from staff across PIH-Rwanda for internal and external audiences.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with PIH-Rwanda staff and Marketing and Communications staff at the U.S. Coordination Site to identify and develop story ideas and turn them into compelling pieces for national and international audiences
  • Collaborate with communications, program, and project teams to gather information and produce timely, accurate content.
  • Collaborate with coordination site Marketing & Communications team to identify and produce stories for coordination site communications channels and audiences.
  • Write high-quality articles, blog posts, newsletters, and web content highlighting PIH Rwandaโ€™s programs, events, and impact.
  • Assist in planning, scripting, and coordinating video and multimedia content in line with PIH Rwandaโ€™s objectives.
  • Conduct interviews with staff, patients, and community members for written articles and video content
  • Ensure all content aligns with the organizationโ€™s mission, voice, and audience needs.
  • Develop and execute content plans for social media platforms to increase engagement and visibility.
  • Monitor digital content performance and suggest improvements based on analytics and audience feedback.
  • In conjunction with the Communications team's production calendars, set, adhere to, and enforce multiple deadlines; contribute to creative brainstorming sessions.
  • Support the development of fundraising and resource mobilization materials, including 1-pagers, PowerPoint presentations and reports in close collaboration with clinical leads and the Policy and Partnerships team

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or related field.
    • At least three years of relevant experience in a similar role
    • Exhibit strong ethical judgement when interviewing sources and creating authentic, impactful stories.
    • Proven experience in writing for digital platforms, social media, and/or multimedia storytelling.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    • Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Understanding of and ability to clearly communicate topics related to global health and social justice
    • Strong understanding of storytelling, audience engagement, and content strategy.

      • Experience in health communications, development, or NGO-related content.
      • Basic knowledge of video production or multimedia editing.
      • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite, including Outlook and Teams
      • Working knowledge of website content management systems
