International Water Management Institute (IWMI) a CGIAR Research Center seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates to undertake a short-term assignment under project titled \"Mitigation and Transformation Initiative for Greenhouse Gas Reductions of Agrifood Systems-Related Emissions\".
Mitigation and Transformation Initiative for GHG reductions of Agri-Food-Systems Related Emissions (Mitigate+) is a CGIAR\u2019s initiative that focuses on reducing food-system emissions in seven countries. Activities envisioned in this TOR will be limited to work in Vietnam. Objective of the Assignment
The project\u2019s key priorities are to establish robust satellite data identification framework and methods for mapping water systems and infrastructure for the Mekong delta as part of the MITIGATE+ initiative. The mapping method should be scalable for other parts of Southeast Asian countries. A detailed final report should include the following topics:Surface water status of Vietnam Water systems and infrastructure mapping for the Mekong delta Spatial distribution of water infrastructure Review of methods for Greenhouse gas emission estimates from water systems and infrastructure Role of satellite data to achieve/understand the above topic
Deliverables/OutputsSurface water status of Vietnam (the Mekong delta). Water infrastructure mapping for the Mekong delta and review of methods for assessing Greenhouse gas emissions from water infrastructure. Technical report summarizing the above-mentioned deliverables and containing a short introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusion sections.
Duration: Approximately two and a half (2.5) months from October to December 2022
Country of Assignment: Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan or online

The successful candidate will possess the following:Master\u2019s degree (or Bachelor\u2019s degree with 3 years work experience) in Geography, Environmental science, Geoinformatics or allied subject. Experience in QGIS or Python. Prior knowledge of agriculture-system in South Asia or Southeast Asia. Have a strong report writing ability. Good organizational skills.
