Result of ServiceCoordinate input from various substantive officers within UNODC, and convene internal meetings as required; Lead the coordination and design of UNODC Knowledge Portal on Human Rights, which includes close inter-divisional coordination with substantive officers across the house, and the provision of technical expertise on rule of law and justice issues; Undertake technical research and mapping exercises to identify existing tools and resources within the UN system, as well as UNODC that supports mainstreaming human rights and leaving no one behind, with a view to building a repository of knowledge on human rights and providing expertise to colleagues both in Vienna and the Field; Plan and design innovative approaches and coordination efforts to disseminate the UNODC e-learning modules on human rights and the work of UNODC, as well as other relevant guidance tools; Perform lead responsibility in coordinating and consolidating divisional inputs for briefing material and background papers, liaising frequently with relevant DTAโ€™s Branches and offices; Assist in the preparation of comprehensive briefing folders for missions, interdivisional meetings and for meetings with external counterparts; Support inter-office coordination in the preparation/drafting of a variety of other written outputs, such as, internal policy documents, working papers, sections of SG reports, periodic progress reports etc; In close consultation with the Programme and Policy Coordination Officer, assist in the streamlining of administrative procedures and workflows. Identify problems and issues, propose corrective actions and ensure appropriate follow-up, liaising with relevant parties in the Office, including at the interdivisional level; Help in the review, update and alignment of management instructions; Contributes to ODโ€™s managerial oversight and quality assurance by reviewing drafts of relevant programme documents and reports and contributing with advice and recommendation to their finalisation; Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, slides to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, technical presentations and reporting. The Strategy embeds human rights as a cross-cutting theme into all its programmes, spanning normative and policy work, research and technical assistance delivery. Moreover, the Strategy underscores our commitment to human rights, gender equality and the empowerment of women, as well as the protection of children and harnessing the transformative power of youth. It lays out a people-cantered approach to achieving sustainable improvements in the lives of the most vulnerable, including people with disabilities. In implementing its mandates and supporting States to address crime, corruption, drugs and terrorism, and in coordination with the entire United Nations system, we work systematically in upholding human rights through our programmes and activities throughout the world. We work with justice institutions and other actors in the criminal justice system, while paying particular attention to adherence with human rights. UNODC aims to ensure the systematic mainstreaming of human rights across its normative, policy and programmatic work; and to further strengthen existing guidance to further enhance this. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) in human rights law, international relations, political science, or in a related relevant field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least two (2) years of work experience at the international or national levels on issues related to peace, justice, sustainable development, human rights and rule of law is required. Experience in developing knowledge hubs and e-learning modules/training is required. Experience in working on relevant UNODC mandate areas, including on human rights is required. Experience in writing or editing documents for the United Nations, preferably on topics related to the mandates of UNODC, is desirable; Capacity to work independently and with minimal supervision is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this post, fluency in oral and written English, French and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage. Additional InformationNot available.
