About this position
The Task Force for a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty was proposed by Brazilโs G20 presidency and focuses on establishing a Global Alliance to raise resources and knowledge for implementation of public policies and social technologies that are proven to be effective in reducing hunger and poverty around the world. Its main commitment is to reverse setbacks in achieving Sustainable Development Goals 1 (poverty eradication) and 2 (zero hunger and sustainable agriculture). Currently, discussions are being held with key partners to advance issues concerning the Allianceโs operation, pillars and general governance and is expected to be launched alongside the G20 Summit in November 2024. The IDBG is supporting the Task Force to establish the Global Alliance with technical inputs on policies against poverty and hunger and on innovative financial mechanisms.
What youโll do:
You will work supporting the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in its engagement with the Task Force within the Social Sector. You will advise on effective engagement strategies and report on the progress of activities, ensuring that high-level meetings and advocacy efforts are conducted efficiently and effectively based on the technical inputs received. This will enhance the IDB's capacity to influence policy and programmatic decisions in the sector.
In this role you will:
- Support the overall engagement of the IDB in the Task Force for a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty and with the Global Alliance once it is established.
- Develop material for IDBโs technical support to the Task Force and the Global Alliance once it is established.
- Develop recommendations for enhancing IDBโs participation and contribution to the task force.
- Facilitate communication between the IDB and other members of the task force and key stakeholders and with the Global Allianceโs governance once it is established.
- Monitor and report on advancement of the task force and outcomes of the working group meetings.
- Generate reports and presentations to communicate progress and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to IDB efforts to provide support to IDB borrowing member countries joining the Global Alliance once it is established.
- Identify key policy and programmatic events, providing insights to inform IDB's strategic engagement and advocacy efforts within the Task Force and the Global Alliance.
- Organize and coordinate high-level meetings and strategic conversations to position the IDB within the Task Force and the Global Alliance, ensuring effective representation and advocacy of IDB's interests and contributions.
What you'll need
- Education: masterโs degree in public policy, social sciences or applied economics. PhD preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of relevant and substantive experience in international and foreign policy, experience working in international organizations with a focus on poverty, inequality, and hunger, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: 12 months.
