Expected duration06.24 - 12.24 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Regional PCCP Coordinators in Latin America and the Caribbean, the consultant will perform the following substantive duties and responsibilities: โ€ข Ensure comprehensive adoption of a human rights and gender-based approach, incorporating gender-sensitive language into all SOPs, LoAs/MoUs, while monitoring gender composition within AIRCOP units and steering committees. โ€ข Liaise with the UNODC Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling Section (HTMSS) and UNODC Justice Section to explore joint training and collaboration opportunities in the areas of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (TiP/SoM), as well as Investigative Interviewing, grounded in a gender and human rights perspective. โ€ข Participate in field visits and meetings under the supervision of the AIRCOP Regional Coordinator for Bolivia, Chile, and Paraguay, to support the AIRCOP Programme, gather information, and provide targeted gender and human rights training. โ€ข Assist the World Customs Organization in gender analysis from AIRCOP results and help JAITFs in generating precise gender disaggregated reporting, enhancing reporting capabilities with a gender perspective. โ€ข Contribute to the integration of gender mainstreaming and human rights into the AIRCOP training curriculum by analyzing existing content and identifying areas for enhanced focus on gender and human rights facilitation. . โ€ข Organize virtual coffee meetings for women to exchange best practices, ensuring active and equal participation, and fostering a supportive community focused on gender equality and empowerment. โ€ข Contributes to the formulation and preparation of virtual gender and human rights training for newly assigned JAITF officers, emphasizing gender sensitivity and the critical importance of human rights principles in law enforcement. โ€ข Explore opportunities for a Best Practice Exchange Program to strengthen AIRCOP members' skills and highlight gender and human rights initiatives, promoting knowledge sharing and operational effectiveness. โ€ข Assist with compiling and finalizing a comprehensive report on the integration and impacts of human rights and gender approaches across AIRCOP JAITFs in Latin America and the Caribbean. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) in the fields of business administration, international business, political science, international relations, human rights, or related fields, is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. โ€ข 2 years of experience in the area of gender and human rights is required. โ€ข Experience with organizing capacity-building activities in gender and human rights or a directly related field is required. โ€ข Experience in development of research papers on relevant gender and human rights areas and training needs assessments is required. โ€ข Demonstrated knowledge of gender and human rights, the UNODC mandate, and the Latin American and Caribbean regions is required. โ€ข Excellent planning and organizing skills are required. โ€ข Work experience within the United Nations system or a similar international organization is desirable. โ€ข Good command of Microsoft office tools, as well as other research and analysis methodologies and tools is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency English and Spanish, with excellent drafting and communication skills, is required.
