5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Result of ServiceInitial actions of each agency GAP (from the first year of the project within Albania, Benin and Georgia) rolled out and early results with figures and impact to be positively reported. A concrete plan for the rolling out of all gender activities of each agency put in place for the duration of their gender action plans (two-year or five-year depending on the agency). International organizations working within the QI for trade space have been contacted and meetings arranged with top management; ideally leading to gender actions being proposed within each organization. Support materials (training material, brochures, presentations, learning videosโ€ฆ) prepared and ready for use, eventually with adaptations to different types of audiences (technical, decision makers, usersโ€ฆ). Report of the project final event (which will include results, summary of discussions, strategy for any QI agency wishing to approach gender mainstreamingโ€ฆ) Active participation within the WP.6 ToS-GRS doubled. Work LocationHome country Expected duration11 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent will be an expert on gender and will be responsible to: โ€ข Act as the focal point and point of reference to the agencies participating in the project (from Albania, Benin and Georgia โ€“ around a dozen agencies in total). This will include โ€ข Assisting and supporting the gender focal point in each agency โ€ข Guiding each QI body in the effective roll out of their gender action plan โ€ข Proactively developing the supporting material which will be necessary for each agency to effectively roll out their respective gender actions (not only those planned in 2026, but also those planned for the duration of the action plans) โ€ข Conceptualizing and rolling out any training or support meetings โ€ข Develop support material which can be used by the projectโ€™s beneficiaries and also any quality infrastructure body wishing to roll out gender mainstreaming activities. This will include training material, brochures and presentations on the topic, eventually adapted to different types of audiences (technical, decision-makers, usersโ€ฆ). As there is no longer the possibility of a formal e-learning platform, it is envisioned to develop a series of videos to be shared on YouTube that would satisfy this need (to be discussed if there might be a better solution). โ€ข Assist with the conceptualization, roll-out and reporting of the project final event. This will include the conceptualization of the two-day event, making some presentations during the event and being the administrative support during the event. The incumbent will also need to draft and finalize the meeting report in the same style as WP.6 meeting reports. โ€ข Assist in getting international organizations in the quality infrastructure (for trade) space to come on board with gender mainstreaming. This will likely include: โ€ข Identifying relevant bodies and identifying relevant persons to discuss gender-mainstreaming issues (an initial list will be provided) โ€ข Organize meetings with the key leadership of each body to explain the pertinence of taking gender-mainstreaming actions โ€ข Assist each body to identify relevant actions (initial list from first year of project can be provided) and guide them to integrating these points into their regular procedures (or to adopt a gender action plan for their body) โ€ข Encourage the establishment of a network of experts (IMPORTANT: to be housed within WP.6 ToS-GRS) to exchange on best practices and progressing gender mainstreaming throughout the quality infrastructure for trade. โ€ข Participate in weekly project calls with the project lead. Participate in monthly advisory board calls to report on the progress of the project and seek guidance and ideas from the advisory board members (a dozen experts in this field) (proposed on the afternoon of the second Tuesday of each month). โ€ข Assist as needed with other activities of the Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6) and the Economic Cooperation and Trade Division of the UNECE. โ€ข Actively participate in meetings of the ToS-GRS and assist with the progression of work within this group (currently on a future recommendation on mainstreaming gender throughout the quality infrastructure). Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced degree in Gender mainstreaming or trade Experience- 5 years LanguagesFluency in English is required. Additional InformationNot available.
