ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
Under the supervision of the international Communications Officer, the Communications officer (Social media & content) will be responsible for the following duties:
Social Media and Content Creation
- Serve as the social media strategist for multimedia social media assets for WFP Afghanistan and WFP Facebook on social media (in collaboration with the Social Media Team in HQ and other regional communications officers).
- Support corporate campaigns by creating curated content for to represent WFP in Afghanistan.
- Work with various stakeholders in other HQ CAM and RB units to provide oversight in planning, implementing, and managing digital campaigns destined for WFPโs global and regional social media channels.
- Provide trainings and share resources on key areas of expertise with sub offices to help create more content.
- Ensures standards of visual assets and creative concepts are appealing, engaging and up to date with the latest social measurements and requirements.
- Creation of a range of multimedia platform specific digital assets for Afghanistan using infographics and visuals
- Creation of specifically tailored social of multimedia assets for days, reports and events for Afghanistan, presentations, and donor visibility
- Creation of content through Canva, Wochit, Instagram Stories and/or Adobe Creative Cloud.
Social media content management
- Create engaging, platform-specific high-impact content deliverables including copy, photos, and multimedia content (in collaboration with RB and the HQ social media team).
- Analyze and understand social media metrics to provide actionable insights and make content creation and strategy decisions (with the help of the HQ Social Media Analyst).
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members across Sub offices and CO Programme on content ideas with the aim of creating dynamic, impactful, and differentiated content for Afghanistan.
- Coordinate content creation in collaboration with the Creative studio in HQ to produce high quality content representing WFPโs work across the Afghanistan for advocacy and fundraising campaigns.
- Any other duties as required.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Range of multimedia social platform content assets specifically curated for Afghanistan.
- Range of still social platform content assets specifically curated for Afghanistan.
- Demonstrable effectiveness of multiple pan-platform social media campaigns.
- Anticipatory thematic content and campaign calendar covering Afghanistan.
- Proven track record of intra-office skills transfer and training on latest digital industry trends.
- Journal of record of campaign assets shared across geographical and language teams.
- Record of amplification of WFP content across owned and shared digital platforms.
- Management of relevant WFP campaigns across social media.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
- Masterโs degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, Political science or other relevant field or bachelors degree with two additional years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- At least one (1) year of postgraduate professional experience in journalism, media production, social networking, content creation and/or writing.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must work well independently and within a team structure.
- Self-taught learner willing to read and keep up to date on technological changes.
- Excellent working knowledge of major social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Excellent working knowledge of a range of digital design and editing software for both PC and iOS.
- Excellent hands-on knowledge of live event content curation and multimedia content creation.
- Experience and demonstrable portfolio of digital visual asset creation.
- Proven track record of social media channel messaging in management for a large international non-profit organization.
- Ability to train teams and explain complicated concepts across a range of cultures and geographies to a diverse audience.
- Proactive and highly organised, with strong time management and planning skills.
- Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Professional content creation for social media a strong asset.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud an asset.
