The International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) is a treaty-based international organization with headquarters in The Hague, the Netherlands. Its mandate is to secure the cooperation of governments and others in locating missing persons. Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Communications Coordinator, the Program Officer (Graphic Design) main duties will include the following:
- Designs ICMP documents, including infographics, factsheets, and reports
- Creates short interactive visuals/motion graphics for social media- creates interactive power point presentations as deemed necessary
- Creates visually engaging concepts such as logos, promotional and branding materials, communication media, and other print and digital materials
- Creates original visual media that communicates the desired feeling or message in an engaging and unified way
- Chooses graphics, clip art, and stock photography, as appropriate; may enhance choices with simple drawings
- Selects fonts for written copy; produces sample layout for approval by the supervisor
- Prepares drafts of design work and provides samples to the supervisor
- Arranges for photography and/or press coverage for special events
- When requested, prepares, and distributes original outreach content such as articles, news and press releases, email, blog and social media posts, television spots and other updates on behalf of the organization
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Five years of related experience working within a press/communications office at an international organization, or similar
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Knowledge of a second language is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite or other similar design software
- Excellent art, design, and copy layout skills
- Superior graphic design skills
- Experience organizing events and meetings and handling logistics
- Excellent planning and prioritization skills, including the ability to think strategically
Mandatory Requirements
- Proven ability to interact positively with colleagues regardless of culture, nationality or gender
- Willingness to travel and to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings, when necessary
- Commitment to the underlying objective of assisting the authorities and families of the missing in locating and identifying missing persons in an impartial and transparent manner
This position will be based in The Hague, the Netherlands.
This is a full-time project position with a competitive base salary at the TOS 5 level on the ICMP technical and operational support salary scale, includes, generous paid leave and extensive health insurance benefits for the incumbent and any eligible dependent. ICMP salaries are exempt from income tax and social security deductions in The Netherlands.
This position is not eligible for expatriate benefits.
Expected start date: 15 June 2022
