The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, with its partners is actively involved in implementing the CGIAR Research Initiative on Climate Resilience (ClimBeR).1 It is well known that climatic extremes and variability have negative effects in the Global South. The partner nations of this Initiative are particularly vulnerable to climate change, with Kenya, Senegal, and Zambia experiencing droughts, floods, and high temperatures; Morocco and Guatemala experiencing droughts and high temperatures; and the Philippines experiencing floods and rising temperatures. ClimBeR aims to transform the ability of six low- and middle- income countries' food, land, and water systems to adapt to climate change, ultimately boosting the resilience of smallholder production systems to withstand severe climate change effects.
About the consultancy
The Alliance is seeking to recruit a consultant to support communications and outreach, for the ClimBeR Initiative. The consultant will be responsible for providing support to the design and implementation of strategic communications, content development, event support, and other communications and outreach related activities. The consultant will work under the supervision of ClimBeR's Lead Communications Consultant to implement the ClimBeR Communications Strategy, raise the profile of ClimBeR science, and engage in global conversations and events about the transformation of food, land, water systems for enhanced climate resilience and improved livelihoods.
Timeframe: The consultancy will run for a period of eight months starting from May through December 2024.

Responsibilities
Produce communications outputs and materials in collaboration with ClimBeR researchers and staff in line with ClimBeR's communications strategy.
Draft and edit blogs, news articles, op-eds, success stories, briefs, infographics, presentations, reports, newsletters, etc. Liaise with authors and reviewers for edits and approvals.
Format and layout short-to-medium length documents using word templates.
Co-produce larger documents in collaboration with editors and graphic designers.
Draft content for the ClimBeR micro-site on cgiar.org.
Draft posts and create visuals for social media outreach.
Provide communications and advocacy support at in-person, hybrid, or virtual events.
Develop and/or edit multimedia projects, such as videos, podcasts, and infographics.
Implement promotional campaigns. Coordinate specific international advocacy initiatives, engagement related to research, and outreach linked to international days, as required.
Conduct proactive media outreach and engagement.
Curate content for the ClimBeR newsletter, draft and edit content to ensure that there are no errors, and that the content contains correct links and details.
Attend ClimBeR-related meetings and events in-person or online, when required.
Expected deliverables: can be further specified and detailed in collaboration with the consultant.

Requirements Requirements and experience
Master's degree preferably in communications, multidisciplinary communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required.
A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in communications, public relations, media or journalism is required.
Experience with international organizations.
Fluency in English is required.
Experience in graphic design, video editing and production (preferably using the Adobe Creative Suite) is required.
Experience in producing and posting multimedia content for the web and social media is required.
