โโโโโThe International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) is an intergovernmental organization that strives to advance marine ecosystem science and promote sustainable use of the seas. Your Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic student assistant to join our Communications and Publications team. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in global marine science communication. The ideal candidate will be passionate about marine conservation, possess strong communication skills and have an interest in leveraging publications and digital media to support our mission.
The starting period for this position will be in October 2024.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this role include:
Assist with the development of engaging content for various communication channels, including social media, ICES website and community SharePoint sitesPerform regular updates and maintenance of website
Assist in writing and editing articles, ensuring high standards of accuracy and clarity
Collaborate with the communications team to create multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, and branding materials
Monitor and analyze social media and website analytics to gauge the performance of communication channels and compile reports
Assist in digitizing and cataloguing the publications archive, including historical data publications
Contribute to the formatting and preparation of ICES publications
Handle various administrative tasks to assist the communications and publications team
Carry out additional duties as assigned to help achieve the organization's communications and publications goals
Qualifications
You will play a crucial role in both internal and external communication at ICES. We're seeking candidates currently studying a bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, library and information science or a related field.
For this role, you should additionally have:
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skillsFluency in English, both verbal and writing
Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems
Basic knowledge of content creation tools (e.g., video editing software, graphic design tools) is a plus
Attention to detail, especially in tasks related to editing and formatting

You have a passion for marine science, conservation, and global environmental issues
Terms of Appointment
This is a paid student role, and the working hours are 15 hours per week. This position will be established with an initial duration of 6 months, with a starting date as soon as possible (preferably in October 2024). You should have at least a year left of your education still to complete. A Danish full-time work permit is also required.
