Duration: 6 Months (with possible extension)

Position profile

Roia is seeking a young, talented and hardworking individual to join our team as we look to expand our programming in the Syrian and Turkey. The hire will assist in developing new projects, fundraising and communications with donors. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the humanitarian architecture and some familiarity of the project life cycle. Prior experience working with international humanitarian and development agencies on projects is highly desired.

The position is unpaid but includes a stipend to cover travel and accommodation costs. In the event of successful project proposal, the intern will be highly considered for a full-time, salaried role upon completion of the internship.

Responsibilities

1. Proposal Development

a) Identify and map relevant proposal opportunities. Regularly update directory of donors, international and local NGOs, other partners and stakeholders;

b) Assist in context analysis and needs assessments;

c) Contribute to the drafting of proposal documentation (Expression of Interests/ Concept Notes/ Proposals);

d) Integrate lessons learnt and best practice from previous programming into new proposals;

e) Contribute to addressing in a timely manner all comments by donors on proposals.

f) Communicating Roia’s activities through reports (to partners and public)

g) Assisting in the creation and implementation of a PR and fundraising strategy

h) Maintaining relationships with partners, the media and the public

2. Grant Management

a) Ensure that contractual obligations and reporting deadlines are known and met by relevant Roia staff.

3. Reporting

a) Participate in and take minutes of kick-off and close out meetings for each project;

b) Draft quality updates reflecting the progress and status of projects in a transparent, timely and professional manner.

4. Internal Coordination

a) File contractual project documents both in hard and soft copies and ensure that both copies are always up to date.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

· Graduate or postgraduate diploma in communications, international relations, political sciences, development studies or related.

· Excellent English language ability

· Ability to work efficiently under pressure

· Excellent organisational skills

Desired

· Previous experience in project development

· Knowledge of Syrian content and surrounding region

· Understanding of humanitarian architecture
