Office of the Ombudsman and Mediator
The UN Ombudsman and Mediation Service is designated by the UN General Assembly as the informal arm of the UN administration of justice system, to address workplace grievances and conflicts. The Ombudsman fulfils this role within UNHCR, under IOM-FOM 34 of 2009. UNHCRโs policy on Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Abuse of Authority also designates the Ombudsman as the informal conflict resolution mechanism within UNHCR.
Under the supervision of the Conflict Resolution Officer in Budapest, the Associate Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating, planning and delivering on the Officeโs internal and external communication and strategies, help plan and implement the Officeโs various outreach initiatives, including events centered around the International Ombuds Day, and engage in various other tasks and activities with the goal of informing UNHCRโs various communities on how to informally prevent, reduce and resolve workplace grievances, and the mandate of the Office.

Duties and responsibilities
โข Create and implement a communications plan to help raise awareness of the Officeโs functions and increase visibility of the Office
โข Update and redesign the internal webpage of the Office
โข Plan and implement the various information and awareness raising events centered around International Ombuds Day and for Mediation Awareness events.
โข Design and create informational materials in different mediums in support of the Office (brochures, website, apps, pop-up, etc.)
โข Help design the template for the Ombuds and Mediator newsletter
โข Produce a newsletter, including work with the Officeโs internal and external partners to curate content
โข Assist with the brand elements of the Office and the Organization
โข Provide any other required support as needed.
Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

โข Possess a Bachelorโs degree in communications, journalism, web designing, public relations or a related field
โข Content writing experience for all media platforms
โข Experience using Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
โข Have excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
โข Experienced in effective writing and editing skills.
โข Experience in event planning and management.
โข Demonstrate a genuine desire to learn and develop.
โข Be highly organized and have good attention to detail.
โข Be able to multi-task and to prioritize workload.
โข Be flexible and a team player.
โข Fluent in English and additional UN languages preferred.

The incumbent staff will be based with the Office of the Ombudsman and Mediator in Geneva, Switzerland
Conditions
The position is for 6 months, and the start date is. It is a part-time role with four working days a week. Working hours starting from 9am to 6pm.
