Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with the Special Assistant to the C/ROCA and the Strategic and Advocacy Advisor, the Consultant will be responsible for activities described below: Specific Outputs/Tasks include but not limited to: โข In coordination with External Relations and Communication Department (ERCD), UNRWA Field Offices (Fos) and Programmes, implements communication products and strategies to enhance UNRWA's visibility in Egypt and the region: - Produce quarterly newsletters in Arabic and English and ad hoc press releases (e.g., during Commissioner General (CG) visits). - Create and disseminate communication materials per UNRWA guidelines (brochures, posters, banners, infographics, etc.), - Manage the daily content for the ROCA social media channels (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter). - Produce advocacy and fundraising messaging tailored to Egypt and the region. โข In coordination with the Communications Division, enhance media engagements and advocacy to elevate UNRWA's profile and public support: - Organize media interviews and press engagements for C/ROCA; - Foster strong relationships with Cairo-based and regional journalists and media outlets; - Supports efforts to maintain brand consistency and amplify UNRWAโs messages regionally; โข Participate in monthly United Nations Communication Group meetings to identify and engage in joint advocacy efforts. โข Support the organization of UNRWA events in Cairo, such as signing ceremonies and press conferences, liaising with relevant stakeholders. โข In coordination with ERCD, FOs and Programmes, prepare reports, briefings, talking points and speeches for C/ROCAโs external engagements. โข Collect and analyze information from local and regional media outlets, events, public opinion and press coverage; identify key issues and trends that affect or is related to UNRWA; ensure timely reporting of relevant developments and advise C/ROCA accordingly. โข Respond to queries related to financial and in-kind contributions to UNRWA and the Gaza crisis and coordinate with relevant departments. โข Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications/special skillsEDUCATION - A university degree from an accredited educational institution in journalism, communications, electronic media, digital communications, public or international relations or related fields. EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 5 yearsโ experience in communications, public relations, media relations and/or public affairs, including experience in a multicultural environment. - Experience in social media content creation and outreach. - Experience in drafting concise communication campaigns. - Proficiency in Office 365 and standard software applications used by the Agency. - Experience in similar positions with the UN is an advantage. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to use photoshop and other photo/design software programmes. LanguagesExcellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic with a demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely, accurately, and quickly.
