CIP is implementing a four years project on Market-led Transformation of the Root and Tuber Crops Subsector in Malawi (RTC-MARKET) program, 2023 โ 2027. The goal of the project is to sustainably increase the contribution of the RTC subsector to the national economy, food and nutrition security, incomes, and employment creation through commercialization of the subsector. It aims to transform and commercialize the RTC subsector by increasing private sector participation in the RTC value chains. The RTC-Market Project plans to reach at least 60,000 value chain actors with market-led interventions; create at least 4,000 jobs mainly targeting women and youths; etc by end of the four years. The project will be implemented in the following districts: Nsanje, Mulanje, Blantyre, Lilongwe, Zomba, Mangochi and Salima for OFSP; Dedza, Ntcheu, Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzimba, Mchinji, Dowa and Ntchisi for potato; and Mzimba, Lilongwe, Kasungu, Blantyre, Salima, Zomba, Nkhota-kota and Nkhata-Bay for cassava. Objectives: The main purpose of the consultancy is to review and fine tune a communication outreach plan for Malawi in line with CIPs and the projects long- and short-term communications goals. Activities In executing this assignment, the consultant will undertake the following specific tasks: โข In line with the branding guidelines agreed for the projects (or of the lead Center), take a lead in the production of project or country-specific publications, including print, web materials in the form of articles, reports, briefs (policy), posters, information packets, and other project documentation; โข Support the planning and implementation of field visits (from HQ and the region) for the development of high impact video, photographic and feature stories; โข Work with the project teams and the regional communication specialist in sourcing blog stories about project activities, achievements, outputs and impacts for different media outlets and audiences to reflect the work and impact of the projects; โข Edit, proofread and summarize project documents, and write articles about project work, as requested; โข Liaise with HQ and Regional Specialists in CPAD (e.g. communication specialist, editors) for producing, publishing, and printing of project materials; โข Maintain a record of partnership communications and assist to prepare and organize outreach programs and activities; โข Compile and document lessons-learned with support from the technical staff of benefit to project stakeholders and donors โข Work with appropriate media outlets (radio, television, newspaper) to enhance visibility of CIP Malawi activities and all projects. โข Ensure CIP and Donor Communication and Visibility guidelines and policies are strictly adhered to. โข Participate in meetings of the Country Communication and Visibility Committee โข Contribute to the CIP-wide communications community of practice, sharing and communicating work updates and lessons, participate in department learning, reviewing, and planning activities and ensure that these activities follow the centerโs standards and agreed channels. โข Perform any other tasks from time to time as may be assigned by the chair of the Malawi Communication and Visibility Committee. Requirements Qualifications/special skills โข Bachelorโs degree in Communication Studies or Journalism/Mass Communication โข Excellent skills in communication and visibility activities โข Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills โข Experience in developing web materials in the form of articles, reports, briefs (policy), posters, information packets, and other project documentation โข Experience in working with donor funded projects with focus in agriculture or any development related field โข At least 3 yearsโ communications experience with donor funded projects โข Good public relations especially with the media world
