This position combines the integral role of ICTs with the communications and programme coordination units. JOB DESCRIPTION The primary role of this position is to carry out โ€œBuilding Resilience of Coastal Ecological and Social Systems of Pakistanโ€ related office and field activities and be based at Karachi Programme Office. The incumbent will be responsible for Communication and Capacity Building activities and involved in coordinating with all relevant stakeholders including relevant government line departments, and communities in the field and working closely with Manager Information and Knowledge Management and Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Officer to develop and disseminate communications materials, along with timely reporting of all activities to Project Manager, Pakistan Coastal Resilience Project at IUCN Pakistan.

DUTIES:
Under the overall supervision of Project Manager, Pakistan Coastal Resilience Project, the incumbent will be responsible for:
โ€ข Communications, outreach and capacity building
โ€ข Develop a communications and awareness strategy with the consultation of communities and
institutional stakeholders to meet the project objectives; and implementation of that strategy
โ€ข Develop contents for IEC material
โ€ข Impart environmental education in schools
โ€ข Organize capacity building events for stakeholders
โ€ข Organize celebrations of significant international days relevant to sustainable coastal
development
โ€ข Compile case studies for the project
โ€ข Liaison with various media platforms and news coverage
โ€ข Maintaining regular interaction with the project communities, stakeholders, civil society
networks and government line departments, through establishing the systematic and regular
communication systems
โ€ข Organize orientation sessions for potential/interested applicants under small grants
โ€ข Drafting and issuing agreements to successful applicants of small grants
โ€ข Providing constructive feedback to all unsuccessful applicants
โ€ข Maintain a comprehensive database of all progress reports, status updates, results in
statistical terms, and means of verification under small grants projects
โ€ข Organize and facilitate consultations, workshops/ meetings/ surveys/ research studies with
local target communities.
โ€ข Liaise with local fisherfolks and ensure their participation in awareness and capacity building
workshops
โ€ข Development, display and dissemination of knowledge products
โ€ข Facilitate Project Manager in stakeholder coordination and communication to support the
process for the designation of Marine Protected Areas in Pakistan REQUIREMENTS โ€ข Masters or higher in environmental sciences, social sciences, communications or related field.

โ€ข More than 5 years experience of relevant work

โ€ข English and Urdu (Knowledge of Sindh and Balochi Languages will be added value) SALARY The minimum gross annual salary for this position is PKR 1'762'454. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
