The External Relations and Governance (ERG) department, comprising the Communications Division (COM), Global Engagement Partnership and Resource Mobilization Division (GPR) , and the Office of the Secretary (SEC) is formed to strengthen and streamline IFADโs global policy engagement, multilateral relations, SSTC, communications, and governance policies and procedures functions to increase IFADโS operational efficiency and effectiveness.ย
The Communications Division (COM) leads implementation of IFAD's Communication Strategy and acts variously as facilitator, partner and leader with regards to delivery of IFAD's internal and external communication work. COM is a strategic partner for IFAD departments, divisions, offices and units in Rome and across the globe. The division has a team of expert staff in media relations, video production, writing, publishing, web and other digital media, graphic design, visual identity, brand management, internal communication and events management to meet IFAD's communication priorities.
The Communications Analyst (Multimedia Producer) ย works under the direct supervision of Senior Communications Officer (Global Outreach).
Job Role ย
The Communication Analysts are typically providing professional support to the development and implementation of IFAD's external and internal communication strategies, and specifally adapting them to the context where they operate. They contribute to the effectiveness and staff awareness of core corporate initiatives and priorities, while increasing outreach and visibility through media and other channels. They work collaboratively with the other colleagues across COM to develop compelling stories and content promoting IFADโs work and ensure consistency, cohesion and synergy in IFAD's overall Global Communications and Public Advocacy Strategic Approach.
Position specific: The Communications Analyst (Multimedia Producer) is a key participant in the Video and Broadcasting Unitโs day-to-day operations, covering a wide swathe of activities to promote strong communications and advocacy with modern and compelling multimedia content. The position is both editorial and creative, responsible for designing, scripting and producing videos for an array of platforms and streams that are destined for a variety of audiences, including social media, digital platforms, public screens and third-party media distribution.
Key Functions and Results ย
1. COMMUNICATIONS ACTIVITIES: Communications Analysts track, research and analysis information on assigned topics in support of internal and/or external communications strategies, campaigns and events. They gather information from diverse sources and help to assess the impact and effectiveness of communications activities undertaken. Their work supports the coordination, creation, clearance and distribution of communications content across a wide spectrum of channels, platforms and outlets. In consultation with internal and external partners, Communications Analysts identify and propose communications and visibility opportunities, activities and approaches, taking into account target audiences.
2. MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS: The Communications Analysts are accountable for IFAD's core values and code of conduct, including integrity, transparency, and equity in the management of IFAD resources.
3. CONTENT CREATION AND COORDINATION
- Build video stories and products to advance IFAD advocacy in line with the Global Communications Strategy: support with pre-production, creative briefs, script-writing, editing and other aspects of video production.
- Help with coordination and production of video content from other IFAD entities and regions, planning video missions, working with field teams during and after the mission, and occasionally working as a field producer.ย
- Work on the design and creative brief of videos designed for digital and social output, as IFAD evolves toward more digital-first products.
- Contribute to the reboot of IFADโs YouTube channel and help manage it on a daily basis.
- Contribute to everyday video desk functions including intake and quality control of videos and tracking video projects from start to finish.
- Assist with preparation and distribution of video outputย to third parties and related rights management and licensing.
- Assist with localization of videos for IFADโs multilingual distribution streams.
- Participate in multimedia coverage of events at IFAD headquarters and, possibly, other venues.ย
- Provide back-up to the Communications Officer, Video and Global Media Outreach, in coordinating consultants and other video suppliers hired on short-term contracts.
- Support the Communications Officer, Video and Global Media Outreach, on ensuring the smooth functioning of the video production and output of IFADโs communications division.
Occasional travel.
Key Performance Indicators ย
The work requires analysis of current trends. While the type of analysis and decision-making varies, typical examples include: interpreting a body of rules, regulations and precedents to determine new communication opportunities. Communication Analyst positions have access to advice and on-the-job training from more senior officers.
Position specific: The Communications Analyst (Multimedia Producer) will have KPIs that measure successful participation in collective, collaborative activity, and achievement of individual goals. Those collaborative KPIs may include successful audiovisual coverage of events, increases in engagement with videos on IFAD public-facing platforms and increases in third-party dissemination.

The work relationships of Communication Analysts involve close interaction with team members, and staff throughout the Fund. This requires skills in building constructive, effective relationships. External contacts are predominantly with current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders.
