The consultant will:
- Provide technical leadership and advise across the CSP Strategic Outcomes (SO) on climate-smart agricultural practices tailored to the Lao PDR context, including agroecology, conservation farming, Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture (NSA), small livestock raising systems, small scale agricultural technologies and infrastructure smallholder agriculture market support,) and integrated soil and water management.
- Represent WFP in various fora on food systems and provide technical leadership on Climate-Smart and Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture as a Pillars of Resilient Food Systems in Lao PDR
- Provide technical leadership for the integration of CSA into school feeding supply chains and advise on the design and implementation of HGSF models that strengthen sustainable environmental sensitive local food systems and smallholder farmer linkages.
- Design and support the implementation of field-based CSA pilot initiatives in alignment with government strategies, National Adaptation Plans and WFPโs operational priorities.
- Support analysis of climate risks and food system vulnerabilities using available data and tools, including climate risk profiles, food security and nutrition analyses; VAM and national sources.
- Coordinate with national institutions (e.g. Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), U.N. agencies, and development partners to promote harmonized approaches to CSA and build new public-private partnerships in line with CSA priorities
- Develop practical tools, training materials, and technical guidance to support capacity building and increase CSA demand and awareness , technical and implementation capacity among WFP staff, government partners, and local communities.
- Contribute to donor reporting, knowledge management, and documentation of lessons learned, research, evidence generation, and case studies.
- Support resource mobilization efforts through technical inputs to proposals or concept notes related to CSA, resilience, and food systems.
- Perform other tasks as required.
