Purpose

Under the supervision of the Director, Business Development (BD) โ€“ Domestic, the Manager, Business Development โ€“ Domestic will support resource development from public and private sector donors for CWSโ€™ domestic portfolio. The Manager, BD will provide coordination and logistical support for funding priorities and targets, proposal development, submissions, competitive analysis and positioning, and contribute to the portfolioโ€™s strategic development. The position is a member of the Business Development Unit, a team that will scale with growth and is a point of contact for external and internal stakeholders for CWSโ€™ domestic BD portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • In alignment with the CWS Business Development Strategy under the leadership of the VP, BD and supervision of the Director, BD - Domestic, support resource acquisition for the CWS domestic portfolio to achieve regional and organizational BD Key Performance Indicators and funding diversification and sustainability goals.
  • Provide logistical support for the development and implementation of regional business development plans and help coordinate periodic portfolio performance reviews.
  • Conduct research and prospecting for new funding partners and opportunities for the domestic portfolio.
  • Support coordination of positioning by representing CWS with high degree of professionalism and integrity to identify and secure funding streams. This role will collaborate with others in the organization including the BD Engagement team, Technical Unit, Programs staff, Executive staff, and Communications teams in these efforts.
  • Conduct quality assurance review of Salesforce data in conjunction with BD, Associate Director โ€“ Systems & Operations onregional pipeline data collection and reporting, and support Go/No-Go decision-making processes for the portfolio, ensuring bid assessments including risk and compliance factors are completed.
  • Use Salesforce to ensure all domestic portfolio donors, opportunities, engagement activities, etc. are captured to inform action and decision-making.
  • Coordinate logistics for the full BD process lifecycle for funding opportunities, applying industry standard practices and applying quality control measures, participating in specific steps, such as certain color team reviews.
  • Manage meetings and documentation for the BD domestic portfolio.
  • Collaborate with other Business Development Unit staff on unit-wide activities.
  • Participate in advancing the continued enhancement of resource development strategy, approaches, processes and tools across the organization to support the diversification and sustainability goals. Contribute to building a โ€˜BD cultureโ€™ across the organization.
  • As advised by the Director, BD, participate in organizational initiatives created to advance strategic and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the domestic portfolio and larger BD team and other CWS stakeholders with an inclusive approach.
  • Demonstrate CWS and team values in day-to-day work; incorporate the DEI goals of the organization within the BD work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other Duties as assigned as directed by supervisor.
  • Ability to travel will be required.

Qualifications

  • Five years or more experience with demonstrated success in business development with a particular emphasis on refugees and displaced populations, and with public (USG) and private sector (corporate, foundation) institutional donors. Experience with a USRAP refugee resettlement agency preferred.
  • Experience with prospecting and research for BD domestic development or humanitarian portfolios.
  • Highly effective project management skills for complex projects across teams.
  • High competence with Salesforce or similar system for grants management.
  • Demonstrated capability in working with data sets, systems, and analysis.
  • Experience working with a diverse team operating under high pressure and tight deadlines, applying a demonstrated inclusive management approach.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and oral. High capacity to influence and negotiate.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural/multi-national environment required.
  • Ability to bring lightness to serious work preferred; calmness and empathy during crises is a must.
