Oxfam in Africa (OiA) is a continental platform empowering country teams, building influencing relationships and advocating in Africa and beyond, in order to build a fairer world where people can thrive and not just survive.

Oxfam in Africa embraces all the Oxfam stakeholdersโ€™ entities (countries, clusters, advocacy offices and affiliates) on the continent and seeks to enable and enhance impact through collaboration and integration. The Africa platform will contribute to deliver Oxfamโ€™s impact and Influence in Africa. The plural and robust leadership team will represent the different Oxfam stakeholders in the continent. It will include the Oxfam in South Africa (OZA) Executive Director (as the only affiliate currently in the continent and the new ones will be included in due time), the Country Directors, SAF Cluster Director from the programmes in Africa who will be leading on specific themes / priorities within Oxfam in Africa and the Africa Platform Senior Leadership Team (SLT). There will be collaboration with the North Africa cluster but no direct management relationships.

The Role

Oxfam International Oxfam in Africa is is looking for Business Development Manager to lead on new business development in support of all countries in the Sub Sahara Region of Africa; creating, identifying and accessing new funding opportunities; maintaining a consistent standard of donor relations and ensuring high-quality proposal development across variable country contexts.

Who we're looking for

A dynamic, charismatic, and credible manager and experienced resource mobilization specialist, who can demonstrate success in engaging with bilateral and multilateral donors for an international agency like Oxfam and devising and implementing resource mobilisation strategies. You must have strong networking, representational and negotiation skills and be an effective communicator, able to articulate strategy and policy issues through effective oral and written briefs. You must be able to work effectively across multi-cultural, multi-functional teams. You must be familiar with government decision-making processes, both political and technical, including budget processes, appropriation, protocols, and communications. Proficiency in English and French is desirable.
