The IUCN Protected and Conserved Areas (PCA) Team has a long heritage in the Union, with a headquarters-based core team and regional staff, and a closely coordinated programme of activities with the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA). The PCA Team is part of the Centre for Conservation Action. This work is supported by several donors and partners, including the European Development Fund of the European Union, through the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States in the BIOPAMA Programme, the German International Climate Initiative through investments to achieve the objectives of the Convention on Biodiversity, the European Commission through the BEST Initiative, and by several private organisations, including the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The BEST Initiative groups four grant-making facilities addressing biodiversity conservation and climate challenges of the EUโ€™s Outermost Regions and associated Overseas Countries and Territories: BEST 2.0, BEST 2.0+, LIFE4BEST and the most recently awarded BESTLIFE2030. JOB DESCRIPTION โ€ข Manage the relations with the donor and immediate stakeholders (implementing partners and political partners).

โ€ข Ensure good integration and capitalisation with the IUCN PCA Team and strategy, and the IUCN European Programme and EU Policy approach.

โ€ข Deliver on the governance of BESTLIFE2030 project and liaise with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Board and Steering Committee, planning meetings, Regional Advisory meetings etc).

โ€ข Lead the delivery of technical narrative and financial reports to the projectโ€™s donor.

โ€ข Ensure the proper technical and financial project delivery, in line with the Grant Agreement and IUCN relevant Policies and Procedures, and in coordination with the relevant IUCN units (e.g. programme operations, legal, global communications, procurement etc).

โ€ข Monitor the project implementation according to the description of action and ensures the project targets are met.

โ€ข Manage the results of the project team and manage staff.

โ€ข Ensure that the project interventions and impacts are properly documented and communicated.

โ€ข Coordinate the capitalisation and documenting the knowledge generated by grants, and their dissemination, including through the use of the IUCN knowledge products, such as PANORAMA.

โ€ข Ensures the integration of the BEST Portfolio lessons learnt and best practices in the BESTLIFE2030 project, future grant-making projects and IUCNโ€™s institutional processes.

โ€ข Engage in resource mobilisation activities, to further develop and strengthen the BEST Portfolio and the PCA work in the European context.

However, in an organisation such as IUCN, staff members are expected to show flexibility in their approach to work and be willing to undertake other tasks that are reasonably allocated to them but which are not part of their regular job description. Where any task becomes a regular part of an employee's responsibilities, the job description will be changed in consultation with the employee, their line manager and the Human Resources Management Group. REQUIREMENTS โ€ข โ€ข At least 7 years of proven experience in managing complex projects, including staff management.

โ€ข โ€ข Demonstrated accountability, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate high level of emotional intelligence.

โ€ข โ€ข Through understanding of EU policies and the context in which IUCN operates.

โ€ข โ€ข Demonstrated experience in resources mobilisation and donor relations.

โ€ข โ€ข Proven ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, and sensitivity to gender and cultural diversity.

โ€ข โ€ข Proven record of accomplishments in implementing projects in the field of environment and/or in the context of large organisations.

โ€ข โ€ข University degree, in biodiversity conservation, international relations, or related field.

โ€ข โ€ข Excellent written and spoken English and French. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.

โ€ข โ€ข Ability to cope with varied workload and flexible working hours, and able to implement tasks autonomously.

โ€ข โ€ข Proven ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, and sensitivity to gender and cultural diversity.

โ€ข โ€ข High level of adaptability, especially in stressful situations.

โ€ข โ€ข Proven interest in IUCNโ€™s areas of work, mission and adheres to IUCNโ€™s core values of transparency, inclusiveness, professionalism and accountability. SALARY The minimum gross annual salary for this position is EUR 59'950. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice.
