Audio/Visual and Computer Support Technician

Reporting to the Head of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) department, the Audio/Visual and Computer Support Technician will provide support to IIASA scientists and other institute staff.

main tasks and responsibilities

Provide in-room IT support for high-level meetings and conferences, including setting up conference rooms and assisting during key meetings. Manage and maintain audio/visual technical systems in meeting rooms, with responsibility for upgrades when needed. Assist staff with implementing in-office audio/visual systems for online meetings. Coordinate in advance with conference/meeting organizers to ensure smooth operations. Support online meetings using platforms like Zoom, MS Teams, etc., and assist users with these services. Administer institutional Zoom and Miro licenses and accounts, and proactively seek additional services to enhance collaboration efforts among staff. Offer first-level help desk support, installing, deploying, and troubleshooting ICT hardware such as desktops, laptops, printers, copiers, and presentation beamers. Oversee laptop and desktop PC procurements and coordinate warranty and external repair services for timely hardware fixes. Handle relocation and placement of IT hardware, including PCs, printers, and telephones. In line with the team spirit that prevails at IIASA, the incumbent may occasionally work on other tasks assigned by their superiors, that might not be directly related to this appointment but where the post holder has relevant experience and skills, and/or a shortage of immediate personnel capabilities requires such.

required skills and Experience

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with audiovisual systems (e.g., video and audio mixers) as well as previous IT help desk support experience, in a professional office setting Experience with online meeting and video conferencing systems, along with meeting room support. Technical knowledge and proficiency with MS Windows, MS Office, and standard software packages. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and provide quick-thinking solutions. Proven ability to troubleshoot problems using analytical problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Full fluency in English (written and spoken) is necessary, and a working knowledge of German is desirable.

appointment terms

The selected candidate should be available to take up the position as soon as possible in 2023. We will offer an initial full-time (40 hours per week) employment contract for seven months, with the intention to extend to an open ended contract thereafter (by mutual agreement).

Applicants wishing to work part-time hours may also be considered.

Duties will be carried out at the IIASA premises in Laxenburg, Austria.

Please note: This position is classified as a \"General Service\" post (moving and settlement allowances will not apply).

An annual, gross, full-time salary of at least
EUR 37,000.00 which is exempt from income tax in Austria.
