Terms of ReferenceUNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a contract within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services in our Office in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Established in December 1950, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect and assist refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. UNHCR works in over 130 countries to protect and care for over 80 million people.

UNHCR has traditionally been funded by voluntary contributions from Member States. Due to the enormous increase in the number of refugees, fundraising in the private sector has become increasingly important. For the coming years, UNHCR has the ambition to generate $1 Billion annually in private donations through its Private Sector Partnership (PSP) Unit.

This position will sit within the Individual Giving (IG) team in the Netherlands, which aims to raise funds from individuals in the Netherlands to support UNHCRโ€™s work. Due to the expansion of the IG program in the Netherlands, the Dutch PSP operation is looking for an experienced (digital) fundraiser with focus on Loyalty & Development.

Organizational context

The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services works in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels. The Assistant IG Officer (Digital Loyalty & Development) will be part of the PSP Netherlands team and will be based in the UNHCR Office located in The Hague in the Netherlands.

The position

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive team player, who is able to work independently as well, with a strong interest in fundraising, to become a steady and reliable asset to the UNHCR Netherlands operation within PSP Europe.

The Assistant IG Officer will work under the supervision of the Associate PSP IG Officer and in close collaboration with the IG fundraising colleagues to support the execution of the IG fundraising strategy in the Netherlands. As a Digital Development & Loyalty fundraiser, you will be developing and optimizing donor journeys, increasing donor satisfaction, engagement and trust, with the aim to retain our donors and supporters and to further develop the relationship. Testing, optimizing and rolling out new donor digital loyalty and donor development activities is an important part of your role.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Associate PSP IG Officer, the tasks of the Assistant IG Officer will be the following:

โ€ข Design, implement, track and optimize a complete digital donor development strategy;
โ€ข Conduct donor base analysis to support and improve the (digital) donor development strategy and tactics;
โ€ข Create, manage and improve the on-going communications and continuous cultivation of active and lapsed donors to enhance their relationship with UNHCR and secure monthly donations or increase the possibility of upgraded, extra or new donations;
โ€ข Collect and analyze donor insights and data and translate them into relevant donor communication;
โ€ข Initiate and monitor the execution digital follow-up activities regarding recapturing, reactivation, upgrading and recognition to donors;
โ€ข Identify digital opportunities that could potentially strengthen the donors development program and create additional donations;
โ€ข Identify best practices in the for-profit and non-profit sector regarding (digital) donor retention and development activities;
โ€ข Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
โ€ข Attend internal and external meetings as required;
โ€ข Any other duty as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

The ideal candidate will be required to have:

โ€ข Completion of Undergraduate degree (HBO+/University degree) in Marketing, International Relations, Business Administration, Communications, or related field is mandatory;
โ€ข Relevant work experience of minimum one year with Undergraduate (Bachelorโ€™s) degree, with a focus on private sector fundraising in the Netherlands, in particular with development and retention of individual donors;
โ€ข Understanding of the Dutch landscape regarding individual giving fundraising;
โ€ข Experience with an international (humanitarian) NGO or UN organization would be an asset;
โ€ข Excellent knowledge of Dutch (written/oral/comprehension) with working knowledge of English (C1 level or higher in both);
โ€ข Good knowledge of the Dutch fundraising environment;
โ€ข Good knowledge of digital fundraising;
โ€ข Good project managing skills;
โ€ข Knowledge and ability to create, execute and support a digital donor loyalty and development plan;
โ€ข Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking;
โ€ข Good communication and problem solving skills;
โ€ข Ability to think creatively and to innovate;
โ€ข High degree of commitment for UNHCR's mission;
โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Location

The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCRโ€™s office in The Hague, Netherlands.

Conditions

The position is associated with a yearly contract, valid until end of the year, with possibility of renewal. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). Part-time working arrangement (minimum 80%) is possible, upon further agreement with the selected candidate.

The salary is in line with the local UN NO Salary scale.
