Its mission is to mobilize and coordinate humanitarian action effectively in partnership with national and international actors, to alleviate human suffering, advocate for the rights of populations in need, promote preparedness and prevention of disasters and facilitate the establishment of durable solutions. This internship is being advertised for the Architecture intern in Amman, OCHA Regional Office for the Middle East & North Africa (ROMENA). The intern will report to the Administrative Officer, in the Admin. Unit in OCHA ROMENA. The intern will support the Team in the following tasks: โข Assist in the review of premises with a view to optimizing space and functionality, resolving structural and infrastructural issues, and enhancing comfort, aesthetics, security and safety, disability inclusion, and environmental and cost-efficiencies. โข Assist in planning for premises rehabilitation, renovation, alteration, repairs, and maintenance projects, including conceptual designs and architectural drawings, identification of design parameters, analysis of functional/special needs, recommendations of alternative solutions, and calculating relevant preliminary cost estimates for these projects. โข Assist in the preparation of scopes of work and technical specifications for premise rehabilitation, renovation, alteration, repairs, and maintenance projects including related drawings and bills of quantity. โข Review premises with a view to improving the interior design, wall and other decorations, furniture and fixtures, and recreational indoor and outdoor spaces, and establish cost-efficient plans. โข Assist in enhancing existing standard operating procedures and guidelines for facilities management for existing and future premises. โข Review compliance of facilities and works with the Jordanian building code, UN guidelines, health and fire safety standards, and other applicable norms. โข Assist in the collection and analysis of data relating to facilities management, including electricity, water, and energy consumption, waste, and environmental impact. โข Assist in the roll-out of UN infrastructure monitoring tools. โข Contribute to Occupational Health and Safety Management. โข Support the team in day-to-day facilities management tasks. โข Assist in the preparation of lists, reports, and documentation as needed. โข Keep abreast of the latest technologies and trends. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Architecture. (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent) in Architecture. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study in Architecture is required Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), masterโs or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelorโs, masterโs or PH.D.
