Action Against Hunger has been operating in Jordan since 2013. The Jordan mission is dynamic and rapidly growing, with large-scale WASH, Livelihoods and Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP) programmes being implemented in host communities and the Azraq refugee camp. The Jordan country strategy combines humanitarian and development projects to address the needs of Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians through a holistic approach. With a team of 12 international employees and more than 100 national colleagues, the Action Against Hunger Jordan team manages a portfolio of projects for over 7 million euros, in response to the Syria crisis and its reverberating effects on development conditions in Jordan. Donors supporting these programmes include the EU via MADAD, AFD, GIZ, SDC, UNOCHA, UN Habitat, the Suez Foundation and ACF internal funding. Action Against Hunger also works in close partnership with UNICEF.
Jordan is considered as a stable country where security conditions enable safe implementation of projects. However, some specific warnings and restrictions can be issued from time to time in order to manage safety and security of our staff properly in regards to events.
Amman hosts the coordination office for Jordan and the Middle East Regional Office (MERO). Amman is a large and constantly growing city, offering easy access to all needed facilities and services.
Votre poste et vos responsabilitรฉs
Based in Amman, the Country Director is responsible for providing the overall leadership and strategic guidance of the Country Office.
More precisely, you will be responsible to the following missions:
- Lead the preparation, updating, implementation of the country strategy appropriate for the country and regional context, in line with the ACF vision and country office.
- Oversee country officeโs programming to ensure the effective and efficient design, implementation and evaluation of ACF's programs and projects.
- Develop and enhance relationships between the country office and donorsโ representatives, civil society, private sector, government agencies and other organizations, acknowledging diversity as an asset of the humanitarian community, so that ACF can maximize its impact on malnutrition and its prevention.
- Being responsible for the security management of staff, operations, assets and directs country-specific response to security threats and incidents, up to and including management of evacuation.
- Oversee the management and development of country officeโs human resources and create a shared vision, among all staff, of ACF's values and program's aims and their role in achieving these.
- Oversee and direct the appropriate mobilization, use and management of financial and logistic resources in the country office in line with ACF policies and donor requirements.
- Maintain a good working relationships with HQ by complying with information demands and using HQโs expertise to optimize the countryโs strategy implementation.
- Ensure ACFโs accountability, reputation and fiscal responsibility in the country.
Votre profil
You hold a Bachelor or a Master degree.
You have a minimum 5 yearsโ experience in a similar position, as Country Director, Deputy Country Director or senior Field Coordinator in the humanitarian sector and emergency programs.
You have an interest in climate change and gender sensitive programming.
You have proven results in business development and the capacity to drive change management.
You are reliable and independent with a strong organizational capacity, decision-making and conflict resolution.
You have an experience of working with institutional and private donors.
You have an experience in successfully managing various forms of partnership with National and International NGOs.
You have an excellent integrity, a capacity to analyse and you have an excellent diplomacy.
Vos conditions dโemploi
- Fixed term contract under French legislation: 12 months
- Monthly gross salary from 3572 to 4128โฌ (including a 13th month) upon experience
- Reimbursement of the pension insurance for non-French citizens: 16% of the gross monthly salary
- Annual salary increase: 6% increase after and each 12 months of continuous contract
- Monthly per diem and living allowance: 771โฌ net, field paid
- Monthly country allowance: 150โฌ
- Child allowance: 1500โฌ per year per child present in the country of origin (maximum 6000โฌ/year)
- Coverage of transportation and accomodation.
- Medical coverage: ACF covers 100% of the social security, health insurance, and repatriation insurance agreement fees.
- Leaves and RnR: 25 days of paid leaves per year, 20 RnR per year, airfare reimbursement with a ceiling to get to the chosen break destination, and 215 โฌ for each RnR period
