    About the Youth Leadership Programme.

    WFP Zimbabwe seeks to identify young people to participate in the Youth Leadership Programme (YLP), a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing youth engagement in food systems, agriculture, leadership, and innovation. The programme offers an 11-month immersive experience within WFP Zimbabwe, with two overarching objectives: to strengthen WFPโ€™s contribution to youth empowerment and leadership in agriculture and food systems, and to ensure that WFPโ€™s work is meaningfully aligned with the aspirations and priorities of Zimbabwean youth. YLP focuses on equipping young people with the technical, professional, and soft skills required to excel in the world of work, pursue entrepreneurial ventures, or contribute meaningfully within their communities. By investing in the capacity and potential of young people, the initiative supports the realization of Vision 2030 and contributes to building a skilled, innovative, and empowered generation.

    Highlights of the Youth Leadership Programme Activities:

    Foundational Onboarding & Orientation
    A comprehensive introduction to the programmeโ€™s vision, values, expectations, and personal development roadmap, equipping youth with clarity, confidence, and a sense of belonging from the start.

    Technical Capacity Building & Emotional Intelligence Mastery
    Blending technical and personal effectiveness training with emotional intelligence, communication, and leadership development to cultivate well-rounded, self-aware future leaders.

    Mentorship, High-Level Engagements & Policy Immersion
    Direct mentorship by experienced professionals, exposure to thought leaders, and practical sessions in policy analysis, advocacy, and public speaking to build critical thinking and influence.

    Multi-Sector Externships & Exposure Learning
    Immersive learning placements across functional areas, government bodies, and private sector organizations to broaden professional horizons, foster innovation, and build cross-sectoral competencies.

    Capstone Innovation Project
    Youth-led projects addressing real-world challenges, applying acquired skills to design, implement, and present impactful solutions aligned to national and global development goals.

    Programme Exit & Leadership Graduation
    A reflective culmination of the journey, showcasing achievements, personal growth, and a formal transition into the alumni network, positioning participants as empowered agents of change.
