As a member of a team responsible for operating and upgrading the vacuum systems of the Large Hadron Collider, your role will involve participating in the mechanical design, manufacturing, and installation of accelerator vacuum equipment. These activities will take place within dedicated workshops, laboratories, and the LHC tunnel area. You will collaborate closely with students, trainees, experienced technicians, and engineers in a highly motivating and international environment.

Your main tasks will be:

Designing and creating computer-aided design (CAD) drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies used in vacuum laboratories and accelerators;Manufacturing mechanical components using conventional machines, such as milling and turning equipment;Assembling and operating ultra-high-vacuum systems; Generating appropriate documentation for vacuum equipment;Participating in the logistics and overseeing the procurement process for vacuum components.

Who we are looking for

Skills and/or knowledge

Mechanical manufacturing with conventional milling and turning machines;Understanding technical drawings;Practical experience with CAD software;Operation vacuum systems & instrumentation;Fluent in French, the ability to work in English would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
