The return and reintegration of unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) requires close coordination among EU Member States and Schengen Associated Countries (MS) and other stakeholders to ensure consistent, child-sensitive, and high-quality approaches. Currently, practices vary across MS, and opportunities for structured exchange and cooperation are still limited.
The European Platform on UASC Return and Reintegration is a two-year initiative funded by the Dutch Repatriation and Departure Service from the Netherlands through the Dutch Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). It aims to strengthen operational procedures and coordination to improve the range and quality of return and reintegration services available to UASC. Key activities include creating and implementing a Community of Practice (CoP) for networking and peer-to-peer support, conducting a needs and gaps assessment to define the CoP's scope, and organising mutual learning activities and other targeted exchanges to promote ongoing knowledge-sharing.
To undertake this work, ICMPD seeks a Project Manager with a background in migration, preferably with experience in return and reintegration, and specialised knowledge in child (protection) issues, along with expertise working with or within MS agencies and/or institutions. The Project Manager will be fluent in English (additional EU languages are an asset). He/she will be based in Brussels and report to the EU Return and Reintegration Portfolio Manager.
