UNEP FI requires a policy consultant to work in tandem with subject matter experts, key stakeholders and the UNEP FI Secretariat to coordinate the GEF-funded mandate on net-zero nature-positive (NZNP) taxonomies as well as support various prudential regulatory initiatives at UNEP FI. Specific tasks and responsibilities : UNEP FI requires a policy consultant to work in tandem with subject matter experts, key stakeholders and the UNEP FI Secretariat to: โข Coordinate the delivery of UNEP FI policy team components under the GEF-8 NZNP project, namely a global guidance document on NZNP taxonomies, socialization and help-desk activities, including: o To set-up the project team that is responsible for developing the guidance document o To set-up the technical working group responsible for reviewing and providing technical expertise o To develop a project set-up, planning and approach for guidance document o To develop the literature review section of the report (5-10 pages) โข Assist in managing day-to-day coordination of project team in support of the above listed GEF-8 NZNP deliverables. โข Assist in managing reporting to GEF-8 NZNP programme and/or other stakeholder on narrative and financial matters as relevant โข Support prudential aspects of UNEP FI Risk Centre, for example relevant capacity building sessions / webinars with members on banking regulation and supervision โข Identify potential work areas and engagement opportunities for UNEP FI in the field of prudential regulation and banking supervision, for example in the context of freshwater risks โข Support and progressively lead strategic engagement with Network on Greening the Financial System (NGFS) โข Support with prudential components of Regulatory Implementation Support Program โข Support with the CEMLA programme in LAC, for example in the context of UNEP-GCF partnership for Costa Rica โข Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders as appropriate and necessary. The consultant shall be under the overall supervision of the Head of UNEP FI and report directly to the Programme Management Officer, working in close coordination with UNEP FIโs Policy team, as well as UNEP FIโs Nature Team. Qualifications/special skillsEducation: A bachelorโs degree in finance, public administration, environmental or climate science or management. An advanced university degree in combination with five (5) years of work experience may be accepted in lieu of the first level university degree. Professional Experience: At least 7 years working experience in project management, finance, and banking regulation. Experience in doing research and drafting or publishing thought leadership papers. LanguagesLanguages: English is the working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset. Additional InformationSkills & Knowledge: Experience in banking regulation, supervision and taxonomies is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage complex analysis; ability to cope with juggling multiple tasks across diverse projects in an organized and timely manner; attention to detail. The consultant should have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multicultural and geographically dispersed team working across functions.
