It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is the strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 500 banks, insurers and investors. For over 32 years UNEP FI has been shaping and driving the international sustainable finance agenda, setting global standards and growing a global network of leading financial institutions. Through its work-streams and regional activities, peer learning, methodology development, training and research, UNEP FI promotes sustainable finance and helps the financial industry align with and contribute to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. UNEP FI is looking for the consultant to manage governance bodies and the clients customers work track and support the setup of new governance and stakeholders (focus real economy players) convening models. Objectives: Governance โข The governance bodies for the Principles for Responsible Banking are the UNEP FIโs Banking Board, which oversees the effective implementation of the PRB, and the Civil Society Advisory Body, the forum for meaningful and collective engagement between wider civil society and the signatories to the PRB. The consultant will manage, on an interim basis (providing maternity cover for the lead position) the governance bodies, supporting engagement and voting processes, working closely with the board members, setting meetings and discussions with governance bodies and providing insights into PRB strategy. โข The consultant will support the conceptualization and potential convening of a new global body comprising financial sector regulators. Clients and customers worktrack โข With more and more banks having set targets under the PRB framework, the focus of implementation and target delivery shifts to their clients and customers. A clients and customers worktrack is set up to support banks engaging their clients effectively. โข The consultant will support the conceptualization and convening of workstreams under the worktrack, incl. models of convening different players. Specific tasks and responsibilities: 1. Governance: โข Support the organization of at least four-six Banking Board meetings per which involves scheduling and invitation, logistics for in-person or virtual meetings, agenda, background paper and presentation slide developments, monitoring of the meeting proceedings and meeting summary preparation and dissemination. โข Support the organization of at least two joint Banking Board and Civil Society Advisory meetings which involves scheduling and invitation, logistics for in-person or virtual meetings, agenda, background paper and presentation slide developments, monitoring of the meeting proceedings and meeting summary preparation and dissemination. โข Lead the management of the Banking Board and Civil Society Advisory Body election process, including the self-nomination process, the voting process, and the onboarding process of new Governance members. โข Support succession planning of governance body members and performance reviews (attendance, decision-making). โข Support effective monitoring of governance decisions to ensure consistency and reporting on implementation. โข Liaise with the members of governance bodies as appropriate to support meetings. โข Maintain a forward-looking meeting calendar. 2. Clients and customers worktrack: โข Support the organization and coordination of workstreams โข Support the conceptualization of convening models for real economy engagement, potentially for different sectors โข Lead the management of banking-industry dialogues and sustainability function-business units dialogues โข Build up a community of business unit representatives (client-facing staff, risk, sales, business development, etc.) from banks โข Liase with relevant stakeholders and build relationships with key stakeholders The consultant shall be under the overall supervision of Head of UNEP FI and report directly to Co-Head of Banking, working in close coordination with UNEP FIโs banking, thematic and regional teams. Qualifications/special skillsEducation: A Masterโs degree in business, finance, international relations, environmental studies, Administration or related field. A First degree could be taken in lieu of advanced degree provided the selected candidate has 5 years of relevant experience. Professional Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in sustainable finance and stakeholder engagement and management. Desirable experience in the banking sector and understanding of drivers of sustainability in the financial sector. Knowledge of governance best practices within public or private sector setting and experience in managing senior executives, designing mechanisms for the implementation of governance best practice, arranging and preparing for senior-level meetings, including preparing agendas, notes of decisions and papers, and ensuring documentation is disseminated on time and in accordance with policy and procedures. Experience of working in or with the United Nations is desirable. LanguagesLanguages: English is the working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset.
