Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The United Nations Womenโ€™s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is a partnership between the United Nations, Member States, and the civil society, which supports women led and womenโ€™s rights organizations working to build peace and provide humanitarian response throughout the world. Since the end of 2016, the WPHF has been supporting over 1,000 civil society organizations and is present in 43 countries worldwide.ย 

UN Women hosts the Secretariat of WPHF. The WPHF Secretariat provides support to the Funding Board, mobilizes resources from Governments, companies, foundations and individuals, provides day to day support to Country Offices implementing WPHF programs, ensures timely and quality monitoring and reporting, and amplifies the work and impact of WPHF grantee partners around the world. The Secretariatโ€™s mandate is also to strengthen stakeholdersโ€™ knowledge of and engagement with women, peace and security issues through proper internal and external communications, advocacy and outreach. Finally, the Secretariat provides knowledge management services for the WPHF and manages Community of Practice (CoP) for WPHF partners and grantees.ย 

Under the direct supervision of the WPHF Head of the Secretariat (P5), the Partnerships Analyst facilitates the participation and representation of WPHF Board members at regular working and high-level meetings, including scheduling meetings, liaising with Funding Board members, drafting annotated agendas and presentations. ย The Partnerships Analyst will also support the Head of the WPHF Secretariat, under her supervision, in the implementation of the WPHF InvestinWomen Replenishment conference, leading on donor management and intelligence, and providing timely and relevant inputs to resource mobilization proposals, briefs and efforts of the WPHF.

Key Functions and Accountabilities:

1. ย  ย Provide substantive support to the WPHF Funding Board

Support the preparation of WPHF Funding Board meetings at high level and working level. Draft the presentations, inputs, scripts for Funding Board meetings. Monitor and report on the implementation of Funding Board decisions. Organize funding Board retreats as relevant.

2. ย  Contribute technically to developing strategies for WPHF resource mobilization

Maintain donor database and donor intelligence on WPSHA issues. Develop and maintain deep knowledge and familiarity with partners and relevant stakeholders including on global trends in development cooperation and aid, resource partner development policies, budgets, systems and procedures. Maintain contacts with officials of missions to the UN and departments of assigned funding governments to promote, advocate, mobilize and influence cooperation with WPHF. Support the Implementation of the InvestInWomen campaign leading up to the end of 2025, and beyond and support the adequate resourcing of WPHF. Draft proposals documents and briefs for WPHF donors and prospective donors. Maintain WPHF donor database, monitor and deliver on reporting and updates requirements. Lead on the organization of quarterly donor briefings. Lead on the organization of yearly WPHF donor missions. Monitor and track regular resource pledges/agreements and funding received.ย  Liaise with the Multi-partner Trust Fund Office on donor agreements.

3.ย  ย ย Monitor and improve Partnership development and management for WPHF

Identify external partnerships opportunities for WPHF. Manage partnerships with different UN, civil society and Government entities in order to deliver on WPHFโ€™s mandate.

4. ย  ย The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Recruitment Qualifications:

Education and certification:

Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent in economics, business management, social sciences, public administration, international relations, communications, women's studies, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in international affairs is required.ย  Previous experience working on partnerships at the international level is required. Experience with global and complex multi-partner funds and programs is required. Work experience with women, peace and security and humanitarian issues is desirable.ย  Experience in programs or policy related to women, peace and security and humanitarian action is desirable.ย  Experience working with local womenโ€™s organizations is desirable.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English is required Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
