Work LocationCairo Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides general office support services to help ensure the smooth functioning of an organizational unit. Reviews, records, routes and/or processes mail or other documents; gathers pertinent background material; tracks and monitors follow-up action as required. Receives phone call and visitors, and responds to routine inquiries and information requests, including drafting routine written responses, or routes to appropriate personnel for handling as required. Drives UNIC Director and visiting senior UN officials to and from official functions and events; provide transportation for other UNIC staff to official events, as needed. Performs a variety of administrative duties internally and externally with other UN agencies and government entities (e.g. leave recording, meeting organization, reservations, office supply and equipment orders, processing of official documents, issuance of official IDs and residency permits, etc.), including preparing and/or processing administrative requests/documents (e.g. travel requests, expense claims, vouchers, visa applications, etc.). Photocopies a variety of documents and other materials. Operates and maintains a variety of office equipment in the performance of basic office functions, e.g. photocopier, facsimile, printer, scanner, etc. Transport, collect and deliver packages/items as required; including picking up pouches from the airport or other document pick-up points. Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicle; log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, services, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/special skillsCompletion of secondary school (O-levels or equivalent). Basic proficiency in English to read road signs, complete logs, and communicate with staff. Experience driving for NGOs, government agencies, or private sector organizations is preferred. Experience operating light vehicles (sedans, 4x4s, minibuses); knowledge of rural/off-road driving if applicable. Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle faults A driving license is required. LanguagesFluency in spoken and written Arabic is required.
