Mission and objectivesThe goal of WFP is that all people in the Kyrgyz Republic have access to and use sufficient and nutritious food to enjoy a healthy and productive life. WFPās response to address food insecurity and nutrition challenges uses food and cash to build assets, spread knowledge and nurture stronger, more resilient communities. WFP aims for no one to be left behind, ensuring that we all work together to create sustainable and inclusive food systems ā starting from when the seed is planted and ending when the food is served on the plate. In the Kyrgyz Republic, WFP activities focus on school meals optimization, rural development, smallholder support and resilience building, social safety nets and social protection, disaster risk management and climate change adaptation, and emergency support and early recovery.
ContextIn areas prone to disasters and climate change risks, WFP provides food or cash to communities as they participate in activities that improve their disaster preparedness and mitigate climate-related risks. WFP also provides technical assistance to local government authorities to enhance community-level risk profiling and planning, disaster preparedness, mitigation and response, as well as climate adaptation. The online volunteer will work under the guidance of Partnerships Specialist, and will have an opportunity to know more about WFP activities, its standards of operation, and guidelines.
Task DescriptionThe online volunteer will be responsible for preparing a concise one- to two-page brief in English on irrigation projects implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) in Kyrgyzstan. All necessary information, background materials, and resources will be provided by the hosting organization. The brief should clearly summarize key project activities, objectives, achievements, and impacts in an engaging and easy-to-understand format, suitable for external audiences.
