Mission and objectivesPromotion of Sustainable Development in Donga Mantung Association was officially recognized by the Government of Cameroon in 2006 under authorization No. 152/E.27/750/BAPP/PS. In 2024, it achieved Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, focusing on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and migration assistance. The association is registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta, Canada. PROSDOMA is dedicated to supporting newcomers in Alberta, helping them successfully settle and integrate into Canadian society. We offer assistance with asylum and permanent residency applications, ensuring newcomers have the legal support they need. Additionally, PROSDOMA provides counseling services, job search support, and computer skills training to equip individuals with essential tools for long-term success. We connect newcomers to vital resources such as food banks, shelters, and tax filing assistance, ensuring their basic needs are met as they navigate their new environment. Our mission goes beyond basic support, as we strive to foster social inclusion by encouraging newcomers to actively contribute to their communities, enriching Canadaโs diverse fabric. PROSDOMA also focuses on expanding its outreach through social media platforms, raising awareness about available services. By doing so, we ensure that newcomers have access to the support they need to build a stable, fulfilling life in Canada.
ContextThis project is the essential second chapter in a collaborative storytelling journey. Our first team of volunteers has meticulously gathered the voices of those displaced by climate changeโtheir words are our script. Now, we need volunteer visual storytellers to help direct the film. As an Online Volunteer, you will partner with these narratives to add emotion, atmosphere, and movement. Your animation will provide the visual language that transcends literacy and cultural barriers, ensuring these important testimonies resonate with a global audience. Together, we are building a multi-dimensional archive of advocacy that moves people from passive reading to active understanding and support.
Task DescriptionAs an Online Volunteer, you will be paired with the written stories produced in the first phase of our Climate Awareness Initiative. You will assist the project by creating a short (1-3 minute) animation or video that visually interprets and brings to life one of these climate migrant stories. The goal is to create emotionally resonant and advocacy-oriented visual content. Key Responsibilities Story Interpretation: You will be assigned 2-3 written stories. You will assist by reading and interpreting the narrative to develop a visual concept (storyboard) that respects the original testimony. Animation/Videomaking Assistance: Assist the project by creating an original animation (2D, motion graphics, etc.) or a video using edited stock footage, imagery, and text overlays. The style should be accessible and engaging for social media audiences. Collaboration: Work under the guidance of the project coordinator and, where possible, provide light feedback to peers. Finalization: Incorporate basic text subtitles (in English) and ensure the final product is in a common digital format suitable for online sharing. Deliverables By Week 1: Review assigned written stories and submit a basic storyboard or visual concept plan for approval. By Week 3: Submit a first rough cut or animation draft for review. By Week 5: Deliver 1-2 finalized, subtitled animation videos (1-3 minutes each), along with a short description. Final Output: A curated playlist of all animated stories, ready for publication on PROSDOMAโs and partnersโ digital platforms to maximize outreach and impact.
