Mission and objectives UNV Regional Office (RO) for Asia and the Pacific was created in 2015 with the purpose of providing strong knowledge and technical support to Field Units to help develop strategic volunteerism-related programmes and mobilization of volunteers that respond to the specific trends and development needs in the Asia and the Pacific region. The main specific service lines provided by UNV RO are: 1) Country Programme Development & Advisory and Technical Backstopping - Strengthening country office capacity to engage in programme and partnership development. The UNV RO provides programme and project development technical assistance particularly on the linkages between volunteerism and the following programmatic areas: Youth; Volunteer Infrastructure Community Resilience for environment and Disaster Risk Reduction, Peace and Citizen Security, Basic Social Services. 2) Knowledge Services - Acting as regional hub distilling relevant intelligence, knowledge and experience into usable products and tools, collecting and disseminating them. The UNV RO also provides and facilitate transfer of knowledge and expertise between countries. 3) Regional partnership and programming Engaging in regional programme, volunteer and resources mobilization efforts by developing and maintaining strong relationship with main regional UN, Inter-governmental and non-UN partners. Identify strategic opportunities for engagement and resources mobilization as well as facilitate connection between country and regional level collaboration

ContextThis assignment supports the UNV Regional Office fo Asia and the pacific in enhancing visibility and storytelling around volunteer impact. The editorial support of OVs will help ensure impactful storytelling, promote volunteerism in the region, and support SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goal.

Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the Regional Communications Officer, UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the Online Volunteers will support the editorial and storytelling process for UNV Asia-Pacific web content. Specifically, 3 Online Volunteers will: - Review, write and edit 3 web stories each (700–800 words per story) for publication on the UNV website and related channels. - Provide editorial comments, and refine the tone, flow, and clarity of draft stories to align with UNV’s editorial voice and audience (editorial guidelines will be provided in advance). - Provide copyediting and language improvements, including comments and suggestions to enhance structure, readability, and messaging. - Participate in a short orientation call with the supervisor to align on expectations, style, and workflow. - Communicate progress, adjust for feedback, share deliverables via email and follow editorial timelines agreed with the supervisor. Expected deliverables: - 3 edited stories per Online Volunteer (total of 9 stories across 3 OVs) - Edited versions and tracked-change files with brief editing notes. - Completion within a 2-week assignment period.
