Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams โ 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
About the mission
Sudan Mission - West and central darfur
With the outbreak of the conflict in April 2023 and forced evacuation of Khartoum and West Darfur (El Geneina), SI was the first international NGO to re-enter Darfur and resume its emergency response. SI is since working in West Darfur, Central Darfur, North Darfur, Gedaref et Khartoum, thanks to the support of SHF, CDCS, ECHO and BHA. In February 2024, SI opened a base in North Darfur to provide emergency assistance to populations, as very few humanitarian organizations were operational in the state. Similarly, SI opened an office in Zalinegei, Central Darfur in November 2024. Today, activities are being implementing in West Darfur, Central Darfur, North Darfur, Gedaref and Khartoum States across WASH, Shelter and NFI support, Food Security and Livelihood sectors.
In West Darfur, the main share of the portofolio remains WASH with the provision of water through water trucking, rehabilitation of water points/water yards, borehole drilling, hygiene promotion, sanitation (emergency latrine construction, semi-permanent latrine, showers, desluding), solid waste management, WASH NFI distribution, and WASH in Health etc. Besides, SI implements food assistance mostly through the cash and voucher modalities. West Darfur team also implements agricutlural support activities (seeds distribution, provision of tools, training) as well as market strengthening support.
In Central Darfur, the office is still recent and needs structuring. The activities mostly focus on WASH and CVA. SI also has an Emergency Response Team based in Zalingei, Central Darfur, roving across Central and West Darfur, implementing rapid responses in WASH, Shelter/NFI and Food (CVA).
Most of the programs are being implemented in Consortium, led by SI, and require strong coordination efforts to provide area-based interventions. SI also has a strong localization approach, with diverse local partners in both Central and West Darfur.About the job
General objective:
The Partnership Manger will be responsible for assessing the current partnership approach within SI Sudan. S/he will evaluate existing partnerships, develop new partnerships and facilitate learning with local partner organisations. Within SI, the Partnership Manager will analyse current processes involving partners and, together with the Grants and Partnership Coordinator, seek to strengthen them further โ both within the Grants and Partnership unit and in collaboration with other departments.
The main challenges: Communication and coordination with several partners;
Tracking and awareness of multiple ongoing processes;Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
1. Review and assess ongoing partnerships with regard to 1) partner performance and 2) internal procedures and their follow-up. The focus will be on SI's local partners in Sudan.
2. Propose and roll out improvements to SI Sudan's current partnerships approach in close collaboration with the Grants and Partnership Coordinator.
3. Build the capacity of the Partnership and Compliance Responsible (currently under recruitment) on daily partnership management.Security constraints:
The Partnership Manager will both spend time in N'Djamena, Chad, and in Darfur, Sudan. The main base is yet to be determined. In N'Djamena, the security context is stable with few restrictions. In Darfur the situation is unstable and constraints may vary.Your profile
DIPLOMAS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor or masters in a relevant degree. Working experience with an INGO is required. Experience with SI is an asset.

SKILLS
TECHNICAL SKILLS Previous experience working with local partner organizations in the humanitarian field. (For example, project development, sub-contracting, awareness of common procedures, ideally experience in partner implementation follow-up.) Experience in relationship building with local partners. Good knowledge of MS Office. Knowledge of other information management systems would be an asset. Position would suit someone with previous experience working in Grants or Finance in a humanitarian organisation. Experience with logistics procedures would also be an asset.
TRANSVERSAL SKILLS Good interdepartmental and inter-organisational communication skills. Cultural awareness, willingness to learn about the Sudanese context and general curiosity Autnomy and initiative.
LANGUAGES English is mandatory. Arabic would be a strong asset.
SI will offer you
A salaried position:
According to experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month (2100 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 750.
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.
Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.
Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
LIVING CONDITIONS: The conditions in N'Djamena and in Darfur differ. When in N'Djamena, the post-holder will be living in a shared appartment, with electricity and internet almost 24/7. The city of N'Djamena offers a wide range of leisure facilities (gyms, bars, restaurants, cultural institute, riverside walks, etc.) and a large expatriate community. In Darfur (majority of time expected to be spent in Geneina and Zalingei), the GH is of good standard with solar panels, fluctuant internet connection, and running water. Social life is limited to contact with other NGO staff (such as MSF, NRC, HI). Curfews apply in Darfur bases (to be expected between 6pm and 8pm). Access to local food.
