Work LocationITC Headquarters (Geneva) Expected duration4 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, assists developing countries to leverage expanding trade opportunities in an increasingly complex global environment. ITC promotes sustainable and inclusive development goals through trade. The Trade and Market Intelligence section (TMI) is part of ITCโ€™s Division of Market Development (DMD). TMI has developed a range of tools for strategic and operational market research, focusing on products and markets of interest to developing countries, assessing sectoral and national trade performance and trade competitiveness. TMI regularly supports the work of ITC projects through its tools and methodologies. TMI will support specific components of the following projects: Embedded Market Analysis tools into Trinidad and Tobago Business Portal The project aims to enhance transparency and accessibility of international trade information for stakeholders in Trinidad and Tobago by embedding TMIโ€™s market analysis toolsโ€”Trade Map, Market Access Map, and Export Potential Mapโ€”into Trinidad and Tobagoโ€™s Business Information Portal. This initiative supports the export ambitions of local Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) by providing them with intuitive access to global trade statistics, market entry conditions, and untapped export opportunities. Specifically, the Export Potential Map component offers users evidence-based insights to identify sectors and products with high export potential and opportunities for diversification. For Trinidad and Tobago, the tool is tailored with features such as customized country groupings (e.g., CARICOM, Latin America), a downloadable dataset, and a dedicated services export module to highlight areas where the country has strong service export prospects. This tool empowers businesses and policymakers alike to make strategic, data-informed decisions that can foster export-led growth and economic diversification. Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access (ATCMA)โ€”ECOWAS The ATCMA Programme is an initiative aimed at sustainably increasing intra-African trade and trade between Africa and the European Union (EU). Funded by the EU and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), this four-year program aims to improve market access for specific value chains and increase the export competitiveness of SMEs in these sectors. It also seeks to reduce trade barriers, enhance compliance with quality standards, and promote added value and export diversification. By prioritizing women- and youth-led businesses, ATCMA aims to promote economic inclusion and encourage sustainable business practices. The umbrella programme is structured around two intervention levels: the Continental Component and sub-regional Components in five RECs: COMESA, EAC, ECCAS, ECOWAS and SADC. ITCโ€™s Trade and Market Intelligence section is implementing analysis to inform the selection of focus value chains for ATCMA Continental and regional components during the inception phase of the project. The current opening pertains to the ECOWAS sub-regional component of the ATCMA programme. African Trade Observatory (ATO) TMI is currently working, in collaboration with the Africa Union (AU) and with the financial support of the European Commission (EU), on the African Trade Observatory (ATO) project. This project aims at supporting the implementation and monitoring of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
