ย Context
In the framework of the situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organization as soon as possible. The action under which the candidates will be selected shall contribute to the provision of targeted care interventions to the unaccompanied children (UMC) residing in Greece. Therefore, IOM will capitalize on its extensive experience on the areas of child protection so as to provide tailored support and interventions to the UMC by offering accommodation and care services.
Under the overall supervision of Field Office Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Child Protection Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily care to UMC in the assigned accommodation facility.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
- Review ย the social history of the UMC during the reception process in the accommodation facility and social assessment, considering, inter alia, their family environment, the situation in their country of origin or in the country of origin, and the conditions they experienced up to entry into the facility.
- Conduct Best Interest Assessment (BIA) and identify the needs and vulnerabilities of UMCs, upon which refer the UMC to the Psychologist of the facility, if it is estimated that psychosocial support is needed.ย
- Organize individual or group sessions to provide social support to the UMCs, and assist with challenges which may arise during the period of providing the temporary accommodation services and ensure that the identified needs will be addressed.ย
- Map existing provisions in both the national system and the humanitarian system that are available and accessible to the UMCs. Assist the UMCs with all the necessary information to access relevant specialized care and/or administrative services. Prepare documentation, leaflets, and outreach messaging, in collaboration with the Interpreters.ย
- Support the continuous development of the competencies of each UMC aiming to their gradual autonomy and subsequent smooth transition to adulthood.
- Identify and utilize any available educational, recreational activity and vocational training by the national and/or local context.ย
- File and post on the local Adoption Information System (Anynet) any required information on the UMCs Network of Foster Parents and Volunteers.ย
- Undertake all necessary actions foreseen by the UMCs person of reference in line with IOM policies and the local law on referral process and reference person.
- Conduct morning and/or afternoon shifts and be on a rotated manner on an on call readiness for the night shift and weekends.10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Education
- University degree in Social Work from an accredited academic institution;
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience would be an advantage;
- Licensed Social Worker;
- Membership of the Association of Greek Social Workers .ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred;
- Previous experience at an IOM Emergency Accommodation Facility will be considered an asset;
- Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees preferred;
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment an advantage. Skills
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc) will be considered an asset;
- Willingness to work in day/night shifts, during holidays and weekends;
- Valid driverโs license with at least five years driving experience an advantage;
- Flexibility and capacity in conflict resolution;
