Are you passionate about developing innovative experiences for visitors? Join the CERN Exhibition team as a Social Researcher. CERN has an opening for an Early Career (Origin) Graduate in the Exhibitions (EXH) section in the Education, Communications and Outreach (ECO) group in the International Relations (IR) sector.

CERN's Exhibition team (IR-ECO-EXH) curates three permanent exhibitions at Science Gateway, taking visitors behind the scenes at CERN and telling the story of our universe, with hands-on experimentation for age 8 and up. The team also develops exhibits for guided visit itineraries at 10 locations across the CERN site and also CERN's travelling exhibitions. Evaluation, prototyping and audience research inform all aspects of the team's work and the successful candidate will work alongside practitioners on a variety of pragmatic and focused evaluation studies.

As a social researcher, you will devise and carry out:

Summative evaluation of the exhibitions in Science Gateway, including tracking and surveying of visitors and analysis of data showing visitor usage of computer-based content;Study of visitor demographics, in particular relating to the project's inclusion objectives; - Frontend research to inform the development of future temporary exhibitions;Formative evaluation of material under development for primary schools visiting the exhibitions.

Who we are looking for

Essential skills and experience:

Experience devising and carrying out evaluations and interacting with a broad range of audience groups from primary school level through to adult;Familiarity with the topics treated in CERN's exhibitions, either through work experience or through study;Knowledge using MS Office, in particular Excel;Experience of using on-line surveying techniques;Fluent in both English and French.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Social Sciences (or a related field) by the application deadline;Your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor's or master's degree;You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before;Applicants without a university degree are not eligible;Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
