Mission and objectivesWFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger is a global forum for policy dialogue and South-South learning in school feeding, nutrition and food security programmes. The Centre, a partnership between WFP and the Brazilian government, was created to support governments in Africa, Asia and Latin America in developing sustainable solutions against hunger. Initially, but not exclusively, the WFP Centre will focus on 18 priority countries in these regions. We provide policy advice, technical assistance, learning opportunities and global knowledge platform that brings southern nations together and helps them develop their own programmes.
ContextThe South-South cooperation project to promote Food and Nutrition Security actions in different food environments is a joint initiative of the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, with the support of the Ministry of Social Development-MDS Institute. Its objective is to Contribute to the promotion of food and nutrition sovereignty and security in developing countries of the Global South through South-South cooperation, I. Promote the strengthening of policies and programmes to promote healthy and adequate food, stimulating an intersectoral approach in partner countries and Support strategic actions that contribute to building more resilient food systems capable of guaranteeing the Food and Nutrition Security of families, mitigating the impact of climate change. Based on the activities carried out in the country to expand production and commercialisation capacities for healthier food, thematic technical content will be developed on sustainable production, water management and food and nutrition education.
Task DescriptionWe are seeking volunteers to work as simultaneous interpreters in technical meetings about international purchases, held via the Zoom platform. Fluency in the required languages (e.g., Portuguese and English / Portuguese and English) is required, along with previous experience in simultaneous interpretation for technical and commercial meetings, and availability according to the meeting schedule, which will primarily take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, with prior notice.
