Since 2001, the GIZ CPS program in Cambodia has supported peacebuilding and reconciliation. Since 2007, a significant part of its work has been carried out in the context of the transitional justice process related to the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, with particular attention to victim participation, mental health and psychosocial support, truth and memory, and peace education. While the tribunal has been an important reference point, the program's engagement in these thematic areas has extended beyond the legal proceedings themselves. The Civil Peace Service of GIZ in Cambodia will host a Regional Conference in February 2026. This event is envisioned as a professional exchange platform, bringing together various CPS country programs to share experiences, insights, and strategies related to civil peace work. The event will also serve to showcase and reflect on the programโs long-standing contributions. The CPS advisor will be based in Phnom Penh and will work in close coordination with the CPS coordinator, CPS advisor for PME and Knowledge Management, CPS team, CPS HQ and partner organizations.
Your tasks
Preparation and organization of the CPS regional conference for Europe, Middle East, and Asia 2026 in Cambodia Facilitate reflective processes with Cambodian partner organizations in advance of the conference, ensuring their perspectives and experiences shape the agenda and structure Support the participatory design of the conference program, with a focus on co-creating learning and exchange spaces based on input from the partners Development of conference concept, learning and exchange formats, e.g. regarding Dealing with the Past/Transitional Justice and peace education in consultation with the CPS coordinator and CPS advisors Overseeing of logistical preparation of the conferences in close cooperation with the CPS administrative team in Cambodia and liaison between participants and CPS Cambodia team Support the implementation during the conference Design, coordinate and implement an appropriate documentation process for capturing key insights from the preparation phase and conference Post-processing of the conference including planning and organization of follow up activities with CPS partner organizationsYour profile
BA degree in sociology, political sciences or related subjects Several years secondment as development worker (EhfG) Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate learning processes, especially with local partner organizations Familiarity or direct experience in one or more of the thematic focus areas of the CPS Cambodia program:a. Victim participation
b. Mental health and psychosocial support
c. Truth and memory
d. Peace education Proven experience in event management, preferably in an international or intercultural context Theoretical and/or practical work experience in politically challenging contexts is a great advantage Excellent communication skills, fluent in spoken and written English, strong intercultural sensitivity and the ability to build trust in multi-stakeholder settings Distinct capacities in self-organization and working independently and commitment to core values and principles of GIZ-CPS, such as mutual respect, non-violent communication, process-orientation and participatory approaches

Please note that this position is a short term position! Only candidates can be considered who had already a minimum of 1 year contract as a development worker according to the Entwicklungshelfergesetz (EhfG).
