Work LocationHome-Based Expected durationMay to Sep, 2025 Duties and ResponsibilitiesBACKGROUND: The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations (UN) and World Trade Organization (WTO) based in Geneva, Switzerland. ITCโ€™s mission is to enable small business export success in developing and transition-economy countries, by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions (TSIs) and policymakers. The International Trade Centre launched the SheTrades Initiative which aims to empower women entrepreneurs and producers around the globe by providing essential knowledge, resources, and networks. ITC SheTrades helps women access opportunities, overcome barriers, and participate in and gain from global trade. The Initiative unites governments, business support organizations, the private sector, and local entrepreneurs, to work together to strengthen womenโ€™s business capabilities and shape a more inclusive, sustainable global economy. The projects designed and implemented under the SheTrades Initiative target: Policymakers: including initiatives on public-private partnerships, advocacy, trade facilitation, assessments at national and sectoral levels, awareness-raising and building of government and institutional capacity to source from women-led businesses. Key areas include the: โ€ข Gender-Responsive Public Procurement (GRPP) Global Campaign which actively mobilizes governments and organizations to re-shape procurement practices as only 1% of government contracts go to women-owned businesses. Global public procurement markets are valued at $13 trillion, which provides a big opportunity for small businesses. โ€ข SheTrades Outlook (STO) is an innovative policy tool that assists policymakers to assess, monitor, and improve the policy ecosystem for womenโ€™s participation in international trade. SheTrades Outlook supports evidence-based policymaking by providing a framework based on a comprehensive set of indicators on trade and gender equality. Institutions: involving relevant TISIs as multipliers and to ensure sustainability of project outcomes. Building the capacity of relevant TISIs, including Womenโ€™s Business Associations (WBAs), to connect members to commercial opportunities; and working with TISIs, in particular Trade and Investment Promotion Organizations (TiPOs), to improve their service offering, outreach and integration of women in their networks, provide women entrepreneurs with capacity building and other empowerment activities. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The intern will work remotely, under the direct supervision and guidance of the SheTrades Associate Economic Affairs Officers, DSIT/ WYVC. He/she will carry out the following duties, supporting the Data and Policy Teamโ€™s ongoing projects under the SheTrades Initiative: A) Mobilization and training facilitation: โ€ข Assist in organizing online and in-person events, including workshops, webinars, trade missions, and policy dialogues. โ€ข Support outreach efforts to engage participants from different sectors and backgrounds. โ€ข Draft and send invitations and follow-up messages in English, French, and Spanish, as needed. B) Project management support โ€ข Assist in coordinating with internal teams and external partners involved in project delivery. โ€ข Contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, meeting notes, questionnaires and training materials. โ€ข Help update and share relevant information on events and training with SheTrades teams, specifically with the administrative and communications teams. C) Communications โ€ข Liaise with the SheTrades communications team to plan the promotion of policy and data activities through social media and web content. โ€ข Draft and propose content for social media and the SheTrades website, in coordination with the communications team, in English, French and/or Spanish, as necessary. โ€ข Support with the creation of PowerPoint slides in English, French and/or Spanish, as necessary. D) Data collection and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) support: โ€ข Assist with the preparation and administration of surveys and evaluation forms for project activities. โ€ข Collect, organize, and maintain databases of participants and training beneficiaries, in line with ITCโ€™s reporting requirements. โ€ข Upload documents such as attendance lists and evaluation forms to relevant ITC platforms (e.g. ITC Events, ITC Surveys, Project Portal). Keep databases up to date. Qualifications/special skillsEDUCATION Applicants to the programme shall, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโ€™s level or equivalent); c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in a or b above) and, if selected, shall commence the internship within one year of graduation. Relevant field of studies e.g. law, business studies, international trade, sustainable development, economics. SKILLS โ€ข Good level of English, French and Spanish - both written and oral. โ€ข Computer literate, particularly regarding the use of major office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel) and social media. โ€ข Good communication and analytical skills and the capacity to present findings clearly in writing and orally. Languagesโ€ข Good level of English, French and Spanish - both written and oral. Additional InformationLEARNING ELEMENTS 1. Develop proficiency in project management techniques, by enhancing skills in organizing and coordinating events and training programs, including logistics management and scheduling. Learn how to effectively support the implementation of projects in the field, collaborating with officers and country partners. 2. Deepen knowledge in matters of gender-responsive policy by working in the Data and Policy team with projects focusing on gender trade policy. Student work plans can be adjusted to achieve the academic requirements in their field of study or time can be made available to advance their academic obligations.
