ย Contextย Under direct supervision of Chief of Mission, in coordination with the Regional Media Communications Officer and Spokesperson in the Regional Office (RO), the incumbent contributes to media and public relations, internal and external communication activities and to the implementation of media and communication initiatives covering IOM activities in Ireland.
Maintain liaison with media and national and international counterparts, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to inform them on IOMโs activities and objectives and to promote the visibility of the Organization.
Support the drafting and rollout of the country office communication framework and identify opportunities for new communication initiatives in order to promote IOMโs work, expertise, and capacity in Ireland.
Coordinate the online presence of IOM activities in Ireland and produce regular content for different social media platforms for Ireland, in line with agreed communication priorities.
Draft press releases, feature stories or articles, and op-eds, and coordinate media briefings in collaboration with RO Brussels, HQ and other UN agencies as relevant to ongoing programming.
Regularly monitor media coverage and inform the CoM, and HQ of communication issues and media trends related to migration; suggest media or communications actions when needed and prepare briefing notes and background materials.
Maintain effective working relations with key media representatives and press offices of partners; keep an updated database of all partners in Ireland; act as media focal point for IOM Ireland by handling routine press inquiries and facilitating interviews and referring complex or sensitive requests in coordination with the CoM and other relevant colleagues in RO and HQ.
Coordinate, with relevant colleagues in the country office the preparation and dissemination of information and outreach materials, including organizational and project-related publications and reports to relevant stakeholders.
Contribute to the integration of media and communication components into project activities and budgets, in line with IOM and donor priorities and requirements.
Supervise and provide guidance to assigned staff members and interns.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the CoM.
EducationBachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Political Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
High school diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in theย UNESCO World Higher Education Database.ย ExperienceStrong communication skills, including experience in media and communication and interaction with media.
Knowledge of relevant Irish institutions in the field of media and communications and migration is an asset
Previous work experience in the field of media/communications at national and/or international level.
Experience using standard web content management system (CMS), graphic design software and social media platforms.
Experience working in an international or multicultural environment is an advantage.
SkillsDemonstrated organizational skills, including experience contributing to media and communications projects.
Excellent writing, reporting and verbal communication skills in English.
Very good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and good working knowledge of CMS platforms, social media tools and Adobe Creative software.
Ability to draft clear and concise communication reports and project-related documents.
