What we are looking for:
NRC Germany is seeking a Senior BMZ/GIZ Institutional Partnership Advisor (IPA) to join its Partnerships and Policy Department in Berlin. This role will focus on strengthening NRCโs collaboration with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The Partnerships and Policy Department serves as NRCโs hub for strategic relations with institutional donors, acting as the โcentre of excellenceโ for donor and partner engagement across the organization. Responsibilities include developing global resource mobilization strategies, identifying funding opportunities with existing and new donors, optimizing NRCโs processes and tools for resource mobilization and grant management, and providing internal training and help-desk support to all departments, as well as regional, country, and representation offices.
What you will do:
Some of your specific responsibilities include:
- Development of and leading implementation of NRCโs engagement strategy for BMZ and GIZ on programme and advocacy.
- Lead the development and revision of concept notes, funding proposals, budgets and donor reports, including for grants from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
- Lead the strategic engagement with BMZ and GIZ including advocacy to ensure alignment with NRCโs policies in terms of Principled Humanitarian Action and Humanitarian financing.ย
- Assist with similar tasks for other German Institutional donors; foundations; corporate partners as assigned.
- Coordinate donor relationships and ensure regular reviews of performance/activity implementation for grants where NRC Germany is the grants holder, focal point for proposals, reporting and other grant related donor communication.
- Visit NRC Country offices to provide project-specific technical guidance on rules and regulations specific to German donors and to monitor projects funded by German donors.
- In addition, it is expected that the IPA covers for the Head of Partnership and Programmes and other staff of the partnership and programmes unit of NRC Germany as assigned.

What you will bring:
- 7 years experience in working with German donors from a humanitarian/development organisation and/or from a donor administration, either at Head Office/capital or field/embassy level, including experience with managing BMZ Transitional Development Aid and GFFO grants.ย
- A thorough understanding of Project Cycle Management, especially of the logical framework approach.ย
- Good understanding of donor rules and regulations.ย
- Skills and experience in report and proposal writing.ย
- Masterโs degree or equivalent qualification.ย
- Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills (data and financial).ย
- Native language level German and excellent written and oral communication skills in English.ย
- A conscientious and structured person with strong planning and administrative skills, including above average computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).ย
- Right to live and work in Germany.ย
- Knowledge of BMZ and GIZ including strategic priorities, organisational setup, and funding mechanisms.
