About the Ukraine Analysis Hub

ACAPS Ukraine Analysis Hub (UAH) has been monitoring the conflict in Ukraine and producing timely, independent, and high-quality analytical products on the humanitarian situation since March 2022. Since its inception, the UAH has delivered a comprehensive set of analytical products, including in-depth analytical reports and datasets, scenario-planning workshops, as well as trainings to Ukrainian humanitarian responders.ย 

Today, we are a team of 13, primarily Ukrainian analysts and support staff, working from within the country to provide context-driven, locally informed analysis and support to INGOs and Ukrainian Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).ย 

Purpose of the positionย 

The Senior Analyst plays a central role in shaping and ensuring the quality of the UAHโ€™s analytical work. The position is responsible for overseeing the planning, production, and methodological rigor of analytical products, while also directly contributing through drafting and managing analysis. The post holder supports the development and refinement of ACAPS methodologies, leads external capacity-building initiatives, and represents the hub through presentations and trainings for Ukrainian humanitarian actors.

The Senior Analyst provides supervision and on-the-job training to team members under their line management and contributes to the professional growth of the wider team. They also play a key role in supporting the Team Leader on networking, partnerships, and donor engagement. The Senior Analyst is expected to serve as a leading contextual expert on Ukraine within the UAH and is a member of the hubโ€™s management team, alongside other Senior Analysts, the Project Manager, and the Civil Society Advisor.

Manage the design, production, and dissemination of UAHโ€™s analysis in line with the hubโ€™s strategy and objectives.

Ensure timely delivery, methodological accuracy, and high quality of all analytical products.

Coordinate production processes, including inputs from editors, the communications team, and external consultants.

Act as Product Lead: draft analytical reports and oversee the full production cycle.

Act as Product Manager, as needed: provide coaching and feedback to Product Leads and support analysts on content, methodology, and structure.

Facilitate collaboration with other ACAPS teams (data services, editors, communications) to ensure coherence and quality.

Secondary data analysis

Monitor and critically review assessments, reports, and information products on Ukraine to track trends and identify information gaps.

Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of UAHโ€™s internal information management systems.

Support evidence-based decision-making in the humanitarian response through the synthesis and analysis of qualitative and quantitative information.

Develop or adapt analytical tools to facilitate ongoing monitoring and joint analysis.

Partnerships and networking

Build and maintain relationships with key humanitarian stakeholders (UN, INGOs, NNGOs, CSOs, donors) for information gathering and joint analysis.

Represent ACAPS at relevant coordination fora to present and promote ACAPS analysis.

Respond to ad-hoc analytical requests from partners and support joint analysis initiatives.

Provide technical analytical support and training to humanitarian actors (e.g., scenario-building, methodologies).

Contribute to fundraising and donor engagement by providing inputs to concept notes and presenting UAH analysis to external stakeholders.

Management and capacity building

Line manage Analysts, Data Analysts, and Data Collectors, including developing annual work and professional development plans.

Provide regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring to strengthen individual and team analytical capacity.

Facilitate internal trainings and peer-learning sessions on analytical skills.

As a member of the management team, contribute to strategic planning, positioning, and development of UAH within the Ukraine humanitarian response.

Other tasks may be assigned by the Team Leader in line with the needs of the hub.

Competencies

Required professional competencies

Masterโ€™s degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, humanitarian action, development studies, or other relevant social sciences.

Minimum 5 yearsโ€™ experience in the humanitarian sector, including at least 2 years focused on research, analysis, advocacy, access, or risk management.

Excellent knowledge of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and its humanitarian implications.

Proven ability to design and conduct both quantitative and qualitative humanitarian analysis.
