What we are looking for:
NRC Sudan seeks an experienced Roving Access Manager to support principled programme design and implementation by providing analysis and operational guidance to ensure principled and quality access across the Darfur Area Offices. This includes the new areas of Operation in Tawila, Golo, Nyala other areas of Central and North Darfur as well as the existing Area Office in Geneina. The position may be required to support access in other Area Offices as required and directed by the Head of Operations and Kadugli and Nuban Mountains in Kordofan.ย
What you will do:
State Level Liaison and Representation
- Represent NRC to external audiences, parties to the conflict and other stakeholders as required andย
- Play an active role in supporting existing access coordination mechanisms in the areaย (Access Working Group, CMCoord), leveraging and closely cooperating with NRC's global access community of practice
- Support with establishing and maintaining contacts with the authorities in the areas of operation with a specific focus on the development of access related networks.
- Manage the Darfur Access coordinator and oversee the processing of travel related permits and approvals for all Darfur areas of operations.
Field operations support
- Provide Area Managers and Area Teams with strategic support to enter new operational areas, cross lines or control and re-enter areas of operation such as Al Fasher
- Support NRC Teams on frontline and strategic access negotiations and civil-military coordination.
- Support area management team on crisis management, incident management.ย
- Supportย the Area Office Management Group (Darfur and Kordofan) in making informed strategic decisions related to humanitarian access and the practical application of humanitarian principles.
- Coordinate the implementation of access strategies for all operational areas.ย
- Provide capacity building and to field staff on access related topics (humanitarian principles, negotiations, context analysis).
- Cooperation with HSS.
Access Analysis and Advocacy support
- Make sure that contextual and access trends are monitored, tracked and reported.ย
- Use incident databases/trends as a basis for providing analysis related to safety, security and access.
- Write regular as well as ad-hoc reports pertaining to security incidents with impact on access, otherย access developments and other contextual concerns in order to better inform decision-making process.
- Support the CMG in identifying tracked access related issues affecting NRC and other humanitarian organizations and in producing evidences for advocacy purposes.ย
- Facilitate information management and dissemination amongst others through weekly context updates as well as ad-hoc analysis.

What you will bring:
- 5 years of experience with in a similar functional with NGOs, UN or private sector.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position's responsibilities
- Technical expertise in humanitarian access
- Knowledge of humanitarian principles and their implementation in conflict settings
- Basic understanding of legal framework underpinning humanitarian action
- Technical knowledge of and experieย nce managing and/or advising on humanitarian access
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Previous experience in remote management
- Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal
- Bachelorโs degree in international relations, international humanitarian law or relevant technical field
- Strong computer and data analysis skills
- Analytical-minded and able to read political /reference maps
- General understanding of humanitarian work
- Experience in liaising with communities, authorities and parties to the conflict as well as NGOs, UN and donor community
- Experience operating in insecure environments
- Experience of assessing political, social and security situations in the country
- Fluency in English, Arabic is desired.
- Familiar with local culture, politics and geographical areas
- Strong interpersonal skills, including capacities to negotiate with non-government stakeholders

- Contract: 12 months.ย
- Travel: with 70% field travel.ย
