Job Summary:
The Research Associate II will work within the Research and Evaluation Department to support data analytic and research activities across the G3E portfolio of projects. The Research Associate will be an integral part of home office support to field teams and the execution of research activities, including data cleaning, programming data collection instruments for tablet use, data cleaning and analysis QC, data analysis and dashboard development to strengthen data utilization for continuous project improvement. A high level of comfort working with a variety of datasets, strength in collaboration, attention to detail, high-quality standards, and adaptability to changing situations are required for success in this role.
Accountabilities:
Research/Technical
Conducts quantitative data management and analysis.
Responsible for data cleaning and preparation for analysis.
Responsible for quality control/assurance for data cleaning and analysis in collaboration with other analysts and research lead.
Contributes to discussions on study design; may assist program teams determine which questions can be answered with available data.
Collaborates on the development of study documents, including drafting informed consent forms, data collection tools, and sections of study protocols.
Programs surveys.
Develops training materials; leads or co-leads trainings for study implementation.
Monitors data as it comes in from the field for completeness and accuracy
Develops codebook for quantitative datasets; obtains, merges, and cleans quantitative datasets.
Conducts descriptive and regression analyses using statistical software with oversight from research lead.
Develops tables that respond to intended objectives and suggests additional analyses based on understanding of data.
Reviews datasets and documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelorโs Degree required in one of the following or related fields: Economics, International Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Information Technology
Master's preferred
5+ years of experience in research and monitoring and evaluation
Working knowledge of Stata strongly preferred, other data science and research tools including Python, R, ArcGIS desirable
Experience and understanding of issues in global human development
Experience programming data collection instruments using ODK or other survey programming tool
Demonstrated experience in data production, data management, metadata, quality control, and data cleaning and validation
Ability to travel up to 25% when travel is permitted
Ability to work under tight deadlines and to adapt to changing circumstances; collaborative team spirit and cultural sensitivity are a must.
Experience:
Typically requires 5+ years of research or evaluation experience.
Speaking and writing skills in Arabic, French and/or Spanish strongly preferred
Experience or interest in using new resources for communications and data visualization efforts, particularly Power BI
Experience facilitating training or workshops
Experience working on studies in varied contexts or on various topics
Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.

The expected hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
Hiring Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000
