For the purpose of this vacancy, internal candidates are considered first-tier candidates. ย Context ย Under the overall supervision of the Regional Director and the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Media and Communications Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following responsibilities.
1. Support the implementation of Media and Digital Communications activities.
2. Manage ROโs social media channels and website and help maintain quality of content disseminated.
3. Translate and/or review non-official content from English to Arabic and Arabic to English (French is plus), where required.ย
4. In coordination with Country Offices, compile content, draft, design and disseminate the regional monthly newsletter.ย
5. Liaise with different Country Offices and HQ and compile and organize content for UN International Days, IOM Campaigns and special requests.ย
6. Collect and file relevant communications and visibility products, photographs and video clips systematically in the centralized server.ย
7. Coordinate closely and regularly with the media and communications focal points in different country offices across the MENA region and HQ to facilitate harmonization and coherence of communications and visibility products.ย
8. Monitor media and support the preparation of the regional Daily News Digest.ย
9.Monitor social media and report trends and issues impacting IOM and its mandate; suggest campaigns/content/messaging to increase IOMโs visibility and audience engagement.ย
10. Promote appropriate gender awareness and cultural sensitivity in all communications and visibility materials.ย
11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.ย
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mass Communications, Journalism, Digital Communications or related fields with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience; or
- High School Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Knowledge of and working experience in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, particularly supporting activities related to political and economic contexts, migration, displacement, and population mobility;ย
- Experience in working with government stakeholders, UN, international organizations and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs);ย
- Demonstrated competency in content creation for social media campaigns and websites in English and Arabic (French is a plus);ย
- Experience in graphic design, web, social media, photography and video production is a plusย Skills
- Ability to create content for social media campaigns and website in English and Arabic (French is a plus);ย
- Displays awareness of relevant technological solutions Languages

- For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written). ย

- Working knowledge of French is desirable.
