The Chief Field Services reports to the Representative and directly oversees the management of the 12 Field Offices and 1 Outpost of theย India Country Office. They are a member of the Senior Management Team. Under the general guidance of the Representative and in collaboration with the Deputy Representatives Programmes and Operations, the incumbent provides strategic leadership and oversight in the management of Field Offices. They oversee and facilitate an effective coordination between Chiefs of Field Offices (CFOs) and the Senior Management Team in Delhi, including, when necessary, the representation of the CFOs in management meetings in Delhi.

How can you make a difference?

In collaboration with the Representative, the Deputy Representative Programme and the Deputy Representative Operations, the CFS provides strategic guidance to the country programme plan and roll-out of the Country Programme Document,ย oversees management practices at field level and facilitates the development of Annual Work Plans and Annual Office Management plans by Chiefs of Field Offices, to ensure they are aligned with national level guidelines and directives, and with the overall strategic direction of the Country Programme. The CFS is responsible for ensuring that communication between Field Offices and Delhi is continuous and effective - flagging issues, highlighting latest developments and evolving trends in the states. The CFS convenes systematic consultations with the Filed Offices to assist and informs decision making by senior management in Delhi and the Field Offices. As first reporting officer of Chiefs of Field Offices, they are responsible for enabling the team to fulfill their responsibilities and supporting the team towards empowered leadership investing in positive workplace culture across the Field Offices.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will haveโ€ฆ

An Advanced university degree in Management, Social Sciences, in a programmatic area (e.g. Health, WASH, Education, Nutrition, Child Protection, HIV/Aids), or another relevant academic field. (required) A minimum of ten years of professional experience that combines managerial and technical leadership in development cooperation at the international level, some of which served in developing countries. (required) Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership, direction, and mentorship to senior-level managers leading substantive teams and fostering a collaborative work environment. (required) Driving and managing change while supporting teams and leaders during their transition. (required) Relevant work experience, particularly in a large country office of comparable size and management structure. (desired) Experience working in emergency preparedness and response. (desired) Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
