The role of the Protection Manager is to develop, lead and support the protection programming. This includes providing strategic direction, contributing to fundraising, and capacity building of a protection team.

What will you do:

Generic responsibilities:

Line management of project staff

Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures

Contribute to the development of Country, Nile Area and Protection strategies.ย 

Initiate and participate in the development of relevant Protection projects

Coordinate and manage Protection project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements

Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects

Provide regular information to the Area Programme Manager and the Protection Specialistย ย ย 

Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of Protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist.

Develop and manage project budgets and coordinate across CCs, making sure that projects are aligned to Integrated Programmingย 

Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skillsย 

Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders

Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Specific responsibilities:

Develop, coordinate and manage Protection Core Competency (CC) projects in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements

Document protectionย risks and develop advocacy messaging to reduce violence, coercion and deliberate deprivationย 

Oversee protection monitoring, case management, referral mechanism.

Responsible for Protection specific input and participation in needs assessments,ย planning and implementation of responses to new emergencies, as well as to protracted displacement

Responsible for Protection specific contextual analysis and to take leadership in the Nile area office Protectionย programme design and delivery, in consultation with Protectionย Specialist and other Protection team members

Establish an excellent working relation with donors, international and national organizations, local authorities, clusters/sectors, CBOs and communities

Work on the NRCโ€™s Local partners capacity building and maintain regular follow up on their activities.ย 

Participate in all Protection coordination forums.ย 

Prepare all Project operational documents in timely manner (HR Plans, Procurement plans, Work plans, Spending Plans, etc.)

Maintain close coordination and reporting with the Country office and Area Office M&E Team.ย

Minimum 3 years of experience in overseeing project implementation in a humanitarian/violent context

Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, including protracted displacement

Ability to manage teams in multiple office locations

Ability to analyze and integrate quantitative and qualitative data and information from different sources

Good knowledge and understanding of international standards, and protection fundamental concepts and guiding principles

Knowledge about own leadership skills/profileย 

Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Speaking Arabic is a plus.ย

Demonstrated expertise in Protection.ย 

Knowledge of the context in Sudan.ย
