Danish Refugee Council, one of the worldโs leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly motivated Protection Officer- Monitoring for our operations in Hudet, Somali region.

Under the supervision of the emergency protection team leader, the Protection Officer will implement protection monitoring activities delivered by DRC at the Hudet IDP site. Specifically, he/she will conduct focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews, and observations at the relevant sites to support the analysis of protection gaps and trends. He/she will provide information about available services, follow up on referrals, and deliver individual protection assistance to persons with specific needs affected by the crisis. The officer will work hand in hand with the entire DRC protection team in the area. Additionally, the officer will prepare a monthly protection analysis report and submit it to the Co-Protection Manager at the end of each month.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Conduct regular FGD, KII and observations to identify key protection issues in the area. Produce at least one protection monitoring report and submit to Co-protection manager Plan, implement and monitor day-to-day protection activities as part of DRCโs program locations. Offer referrals to vulnerable individuals and ensure follow up of the cases referred. Provide individualized protection assistance to persons with specific needs in line with DRC IPA guidelines. Monitor the impact of the referrals and IPA on the beneficiaries. Facilitate awareness raising campaigns on different thematic areas as per the team workplan and using the messages provided. Participate in protection needs and vulnerability assessments based on needs. Work hands in hands with the other protection officers and assistants to ensure the good implementation of the projects. Monitor protection trends and needs in DRCโs areas of intervention and recommend activities and responses. Regularly monitor the projectโs protection activities and provide feedback for ensuring activities are responsive, and contextually and culturally appropriate. Assisting in developing and conducting assessments, mid-term and end of project reports and evaluations. Ensure DRCโs accountability commitments are mainstreamed into all protection activities. Support the Protection manager in the development of daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Ensure proper documentation of the activities conducted including means of verification, assessments, and monitoring. Take on any other tasks required by her/his supervisor in the limit on his/her expertise and skills.Experience and technical competencies:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in protection, preferably with an international humanitarian organization. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work in complex and difficult circumstances. Experience in case management, referral related activities and awareness is desirable. Field experience in emergency context is highly desirable High level of personal initiative, analytical skills and pro-active problem solving. Demonstrated peopleโs management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain working relationships across the organization. Be a team player. Cultural sensitivity, and commitment and understanding of the values of DRC. Good communication skills. Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Good proficiency in Microsoft Office package is a must. Bachelorโs degree in social studies and other relevant fields in well recognized college or universityLANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
